will this work with southland earth auger

will this work with southland earth auger
Asked by: tired
This is designed for Earthquake earth auger power heads and the diameter of the output shaft is 7/8". Not sure what a Southland auger's output shaft is and cannot guarentee that this will work on your auger as we are not the manufacturer.

This is the auger that should have been included with the powerhead I purchased. I was putting up a fence that I was using 4x4's as the posts. The 6" auger made the hole needed and removed 44% less dirt than the 8" that was included. It also made backfilling the holes easier. The one thing that needs to be improved is the amount of dirt that is left in the hole to be removed by a manual post hole digger. Granted it is loose dirt but having to use the manual post hole digger to remove more than half the depth of the of the 30 inch hole is a lot more work than would be expected. It cut through the hard desert soil with ease but hitting larger rocks and the resulting twist did become intimidating. I had to dig 112 post holes and at 67 not in the same shape I was in 25 years ago.

Now...everyone around the neighborhood wants to borrow it. Dang! But that's .O.K. And buying through you saved me about $35.00, if I had purchased through a company I ALMOST ordered from. So it's all good.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Auger Bit The bit worked well unless you hit heavy clay or rocks (small or large). We let it move around a bit as we were digging and it seemed to do better. Be sure to pull the soil out as you go, it seemed to slow things down when we didn't.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Cheap China made This auger is cheap China made construction. If you are working in sand or loose soil it will work fine, the first solidly embedded Rick you hit the cutting edge bends backwards and then it is useless.
