I like this trimmer because it made it possible to do things I could not do before and made it fun and easy. We had to trim a round tree in front of the house about four feet over the roof line and this gadget made it so much easier than my old straight trimmer that couldn't reach the top. The extension and angle adjustment made the project happen and made the tree look perfectly round.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by TooManyHedges Powerful pole hedge trimmer
The 18" Pole Hedge Trimmer was easy to assemble after pulling out of the box and was up and running quickly. It was exceptionally good at clean and crisp cutting of mid to some large size hedges and associated branches. I was impressed with the ease at which it cut through hedges. The swivel action allowed me to cut above my head at a 90 degree angle which was very nice. It was a bit heavy so after 2 hours of trimming it was tiring. Overall it was powerful and efficient to operate.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Chaz Extendable hedge trimmer
It does work very good. The biggest drawback is it is awkward to use when it is fully extended. It's too heavy and way unbalanced when it is fully extended to reach the back tops of my evergreen bushes. Also, the cutters don't go all the way to the end, so in my case, I couldn't get the evergreen branches that were resting against the brick front of the house. I did not try to angle the head downward, I kept it straight, that might have helped.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Wdbnder Great reach! But bring your muscles!!
This did the trick to trim up some out of reach shrubs with out the ladder. Quick and sharp out of the package. Only issue I had is it is heavy than I expected, but for the price, should not be surprised.

Cuts well and snaps together easy and quick. Seems well built - time will tell. The cutter head alone whips through the project. When the extension arm is being used, the rig is a bit heavy so overhead use is a bit of a workout. When the extension is used to avoid bending down (cutter at right angle to extension arm), the balance is off making it a chore. You end up holding the arm close to the cutter and then trying to reach back for the trigger at an awkward hand angle.

Only objection is that it's heavy and I'm an old weak man but by working short times it's been great !

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Mick Awkward
This is a very awkward device. I knew it would be a little hard to handle but even more so than I thought. I believe if I would have picked it up at the strore, I may have had second thoughts but would have purchased it anyway. I bought it to use fully extended and know that is the worst for handling. The other thing that surprised me a bit is that it does not seem to cut as well as an 18" Craftsman unit that I have. This one looks like it will cut thicker branches than the Craftsman (5/8" vs 3/4") but it doesn't seem to move through smaller diameter branches as well.
Bottom line, if you need the extension, you probably cannot get better than this for the price. Just figure you will need to take breaks while using the unit.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Lou Good bargain for the money
This is definitely a good deal. The quality of this trimmer with all of its' features ie. option of changing angle of the blade, is great. The only downside is that it is heavy (heavy duty quality) and a person who is not so strong might not be able to wield it for a long period of time. Otherwise it is a of great quality and a great bargain for the money.
