Customer Questions & Answers

Will this work to control weeds under soil and mulch?

Asked by: MelMel
No, not made for that. Solid or perforated plastic is the best for that but the burlap will hold a weed killer for longer periods. Please check if any plants you are trying to protect will be adversely affected.

My spring bulbs are growing through the burlap , should I remove the burlap ??

Asked by: marymary
NO !!!! You will wind up killing the bulbs !!! Once they started growing through the mesh, that is usually it unless you painstakingly cut open & cut away the weave & remove the burlap piece by piece, forget about it. It(burlap) will decompose eventually, in the mean time helping to hold the soil and fertilizer in place around the bulbs.

One of the following or combination of jute /sisal / hemp. Yes HEMP !!! and no, do not try to smoke it, it will probably taste real bad and would more than likely make you sick due to the manufacturing & chemical processing!!!

This fabric is very easy to work with, and you can cut it up for smaller areas. I used the 4 or so inch staples to attach to ground. I installed the fabric in several areas after I put down grass seed. I wasn't successful in growing new grass, due to a lot of rain, and the areas I was trying to seed were challenging due to rain washing it away all the time. Maybe I need to do topsoil or some kind of seed patch and then install the fabric over that? I lost patience with having to mow around the patches. I still think this is a nice product and saw no others that would have been better. I think it would definitely protect areas within the lawn that won't get washed away, and protect from birds or people walking on it. Just have to be patient. And make sure you get all the staples from the ground when you remove it.

After being told at garden centers there was nothing I could do to protect my tomato plants from the wind I tried this because I thought it would let the light and some air in but would still protect the plants. Wrapped it around the cages and I now have good looking plants with blooms. Used some craft pipe cleaners to attach it. Next year I plan on doing it again but will wrap the cages BEFORE planting.

I'm using it to provide evening shade for my Raspberries it was great it doe not stop all the light but just enough to keep the soil cooler yet the plants get plenty of light with out the heat. Worked better than I thought it would. Plus it is kind of tough light I used clothes pins to hold it in place. Will be needing more.

I put 3/4" holes in the bottom and line them with this Bjurlap Fabric so it will hold the soil better and still let drain good. It is natural and bio degrade in time. I looks better than News Papper too.

I use this when the temperature gits into the hundreds and my blackberry's are are ripe. It keeps the berries from burning and eases the watering. I'm still using last years this year so it actually holds up pretty well.

Using it to wrap tree trunks that were devastated by last years gypsy moth. I heard they get trapped in it when you wrap a double layer around the trunk. We'll see. Cheaper that spraying.
