Answer:
I think the weave is too loose to adequately control weeds. Weed cloth would be a better choice.

Answer:
I'm sure it will help, but it is a mesh. Sun light can get through, and it isn't a UV rated material. If you are looking to keep plastic from deteriorating over a long period of time, you might want to look at other coatings that have more of a UV block to them.

Answer:
I'm not sure UV Rays are really penetrating. Maybe something that's designed to block sun. Check the garden department plant covering material.

I don't think this would work well as a planter box liner. The weave is pretty loose.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Does just what i want I use this product, soaked in mortar to create mountains on my outdoor model railroad. Works great as stable medium and is economical for this purpose. September 6, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Burlap for shading plants. This is lightweight, loosely woven burlap which we used to provide shade for some new plantings. We tied the fabric to stakes to shade the plants and it worked well. This is lighter, looser burlap, not the same as the stiff, tightly woven burlap that you might find in a fabric store. It will work well for various garden applications. August 24, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Ideal Bagging Cover I install Traffic Signals an to make an easily seen cover to show drivers that the signal is not functional is a brown cover. This works great an lined with black plastic you are able to know that it is in-active. August 16, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by worked perfectly for our project We had a branch of a tree going from the ground to the second story deck for the cats. It became old and very slippery. We wrapped it in burlap to give the cats the traction they needed. Worked great! Happy cats! July 5, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Chemical Smell Burlap Burlap stank like petro chemicals. Had bought a roll previously from Real Goods in Hopland, which had no smell at all. Very disappointed in the rolls I bought from Home Depot, as I use it on my vegetable garden as shade cloth! If it smells like chemicals then it HAS chemicals, which I don't want washing down every time I water into my food. Will not buy again. Live too far away to return easily. June 28, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Natural Burlap Fabric. Mostly use during winter months for covering plants for frost, will be using it for some shading for sensitive plants Good product. Mostly use in winter months for frost season, will be using it early this spring for shading of sensitive plants until plants are established June 23, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good burlap Just what I needed. I used it to line baskets for my garden to keep soil from leaking out while the plants get established. June 28, 2016
