Will this material leak during raining and will it absorb waterproofing to help from leaking through?
Asked by: GER
Yes, this is a woven polyester fabric that is not intended to be used as a rain barrier. The material is waterproof to last for years in inclement weather and clean easily but not to be used as a rain canopy.

Is this fabric easily cut to size needed

Asked by: klruggles
Yes, but.....as with any screening project, a little practice and patience regarding consistent tensioning and pattern display will help. If you are not concerned with the aesthetics you can fly, but to keep the pattern of the weave appealing will require a little patience and finesse. In other words, this material stretches and as it is tensioned to cover your desired opening size, your once relaxed material is now bigger than originally cut. Cutting close, installing and trimming is my preferred manner of installation. Exact cuts are not recommended as your project will be loose and floppy. It stretches, but taut, trimmed and finished it is very attractive. So, yes, it does cut easily, knife or scissor. Hope this helps.

Percentage of shade?

Does anyone know the % shade this provides? I need something for shading a vegetable garden and am looking for about 30% shade. Thanks.
Asked by: Steve
If you look at the specs, it shows ; Maximum Percentage of UV Rays Blocked 75 '. There are many different shade cloths out there so "check the specs!"

6 ft. x 20 ft. Saddle Tan Sun Screen Shade Cloth is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 67.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not what it use to be! Bought this same package( I thought) a couple of years ago to shade a small patio with 16 feet high walls on 3 sides. It was so great that I decided to do the other half of the patio. Package looked the same so I had a handy man install it only to find the weave is so open that it's ability to create shade is reduced by a third! That's a lot. I'm not happy with the product at all. The colors match but again it's ability to produce shade isn't worth having it installed unless your going to double it up.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Wait for a Tree to Grow I live in Yuma, Arizona where the sun and heat is a major problem in the summer. This product has failed, just look at the weave and the craftsmanship (an inferior product) compared to older sun screens. Home Depot, in Yuma, used to sell sun screen by the foot (without forcing you to buy a pre-cut length) cut by employees, with the weave(thread count) being close, of better material (guaranteed 10 years and lasting 15++ years plus in Yuma), and at a reasonable price. This product is another fine example of big corporate business maximizing profits with a shoddy product needing replacement in 5 years ( the product's listed guarantee, with Home Depot standing behind it for 90 Days-do the math). When are American businesses going to realize that the products they sell, represent, and/or manufacture is the best advertisement they can purchase far and above Madison Avenue? A good and superior product will guarantee success.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pool Pump Shade I installed a shade screen 15 years ago, and it was beginning to deteriorate from the sun beating down on it every day, so I bought more of the same shade screen to keep the sun off of the pool pump.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good sunscreen material..... Used to provide some mottled shade over garden boxes and a row of berries we put in at my parents home in Mesa, AZ. The material provides the perfect amount of shade. It is easy to work with as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fast & Easy to Install Mostly used to provide some shade for an external stucco garage wall that faces south and really heats up my garage in the summer. So far, it works great and there is a noticeable decrease in temp rise in the garage during the day now. It is folded loosely to about 18" wide for this application. I can also unfold it completely to give shade to my tomato plants along that wall when it gets really hot outside. I attached the plastic grommet accessories purchased separately along the length of one side at 36" intervals. Then I nailed 2" long nails into the top sides of the studs spanning over my patio for quick, easy installation and removal later on. I put one grommet in each of the opposite corners and tied a piece of polyester rope inserted through an 18" piece of hollow aluminum tubing to use as handles to pull the cloth flat across the beams when I want maximum coverage over more of the patio during heat waves. This was a quick, easy finish to the portion of my patio and the garage wall that gets too much sun in the summer.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Sun screen privacy This product came in handy as a privacy sun screen behind the Acurio Lattice. I just tacked it in with a staple gun then added the Lattice in front. This turned out to be a great project and went well with the pool fountain backdrop.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great I use it all the time to cover my chicken pens and recently to provide shade over my raised vegetable beds. It's easy to install and holds up well in the wind and sun. What I have on the chickens pens now is 6 years old and I am just now contemplating replacing it. The wind here in the desert wears everything but this product does very well.
