Does it matter if I use a BR250b or BR250 breaker with this interlock?

Does it matter if I use a BR250b or BR250 breaker with this interlock?
Asked by: Morris
Hello Morris, Thank you for your question. You can use the BR250. The difference between the BR250B and BR250, is that the BR250B has a qualified and tapped hole for a hold-down kit. Regards, Eaton

Will this fit a 150 amp Cutlet-Hammer BR loa center mounter with the main.

Asked by: ssoto45
It does fit a Cutler Hammer type BR 150amp load center. The main breaker should look like the one in the attached picture (I just installed this kit and this is my load center before install). It would still work if the load center were inverted, so long as the relationship between the main and the generator breaker are the same (you would just mount the kit upside down).

Will this fit a 200 amp Cutler-Hammer BR load center mounted with the main disconnect breaker on the bottom instead of the top (inverted)?

Asked by: Chris
As long as a type BW or BWH main is installed in the loadcenter, it will still work.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid, Affordable, and Easy This kit was a perfect fit for my 15 year old Cutler-Hammer 150amp load center and at a very reasonable price compared to others. I did not have pre-marked holes, but I followed the provided instructions for drilling them out and everything lined up.It feels solid and comes with all of the extra pieces needed to meet code (stickers and hold down screw). One thing to note: If you intend to use this with a 30 amp breaker you will have difficulty finding one with the hold down screw hole. Eaton does make one, but it is not carried in store. It is part# BR230B, not BR230). Using a higher amp breaker as template - I was able carefully drill the hole in my regular BR 30amp breaker, but I wouldn't recommend that for everyone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great transfer switch alternative! Not sure why some people have said this is hard to install on your cover because it's not! Why pay $300-$400 for a transfer switch when you can have this and have more circuits? Others have said this interlock is expensive for just a piece of metal, but I've seen others for twice as much that aren't even UL listed!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great product for the BR series panels We are a Electrical Contractor and have a hard time finding this interlock kit at our supply houses, the great thing about this product is there is no doubt on the UL listing with other after market kits out there this is always a concern.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good for Eaton/Cutler Hammer 200 Amp load center with top center main breaker I initially hesitated at the price for a simple metal plate, but grew frustrated shopping for a transfer switch so I gave in and bought this. I'm glad I did. You get a quality product, and the flexibility to access your entire panel and choose the circuits you want to power at any given time (subject to your generator's capacity). The 2 assembled plates are made of a heavy gauge steel, powdercoated, and do slide very smoothly. The kit includes the breaker holddown plastic block and long screw, which are available as a separate kit that you do not need to buy (BRHDK125). The dedicated holddown device for the backfed circuit breaker is required by code. The kit also includes stickers that contain the written warning notices required by code for the installed backfeed system (interlock plate, backfeeding breaker, backup generator).

I followed MFR instructions to a T and mounted using four through-the-bezel holes since my panel was not pre-dimpled to drill and screw through the outside four mounting holes. using the through-the-bezel holes caused the face to be pushed up far enough sitting on the front of the main breaker that that plate did not bar the interlocked breaker. I ended up marking and drilling my panel to use the four outside mounts and now the plate sits correctly and functions as it should. very sturdy and secure piece of material.
