Customer Questions & Answers

Can any unit protect whole house? Have 200 amp break box in 3 level home. Can this or any other device be installed at b

Asked by: bill
For your 200A panel, you need the Eaton CHSPT1ULTRA, 2 empty spots on the same side of your panel and a 50A 240v breaker that matches your type of panel. I have logic driven heat pump and hybrid water heater, so have this setup both my 200A panels. Simple to install, but you MUST know what you're doing - otherwise hire an electrician.

I just bought 2 of these from HD and NEITHER had an "auxiliary" ground screw included to attach the ground wire to. What should I do?

Asked by: Grizzle
Go back to HD and buy 2 screws that fit the "L" ground strap that goes from back to top of unit.

Can this be installed alone in the cable enclosure or does it require the Ultra also alongside?

Asked by: Tea
AC protector unit is not required for this to work. This can be attached to an Eaton AC protector, but the only reason is to share a ground strap. Convenient for those with a fancy house electrical room, the rest of us will mount it where the cable guy drilled a hole in out wall and attach a ground wire.

Customer Reviews

Surge Protection Protects 2 Quad Shield Cables is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy Installation!! No lose in signal or internet speed! Couldn't have been easier to install. Comes preconfigured to piggyback on the Eaton whole house surge protector. Includes a conversion kit; two screws and you have a ground wire that can easier adapt to your set-up. I was a little concerned with signal lose but there is none to speak of. Did a before and after speed test, no difference. I obviously can't test it until I need it. If lightning strikes and my neighbors are out buying new TVs/computers while I just need a new surge protector, I'll come back and buy 10 of them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simple to install The cable surge protector was simple to install next to the Whole House Surge Protector I had installed at the electrical panel the week before. All I needed to do was to reroute the incoming Cable TV cable to the cable surge protector by the electrical panel and then back to my original cable wiring.
