The unit does not come with breakers and the instructions say to use two(2) 50 amp breakers. Unit comes wired with 20 amp wire that will not work with 50 amp breakers. Ended up calling an electrician who was also very puzzled by the instructions. Installed the unit with 20 amp breakers to match the wire. Said it would be an improper installation to use 50 amp breakers with 20 amp wire and could cause problems down the road.
He recommended Kabar system - a bit more pricey - if/when this unit fails.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Claude Very good product, worked as designed
I had one of these installed 2 years ago when I bought a generator. Then in November of 2014, some power lines nearby came down and caused a power surge through our housing plan. I saw 7 furnace contractors on our street that day. We had several neighbors that lost ALL their kitchen appliances as well as other electronics. My house came through relatively unscathed; the surge protector blew out as designed (see picture) and we lost 2 other surge protectors inside the house. Without all of those in place I'm sure we would have sustained major damage. Multi-tiered surge protection is recommended and in our case saved us a lot of money. I will never be without one again.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by BuddyBrad Eaton Whole House Surge Protector
This is one of those things that you don't know whether it helped you out or not. If we have a lightning storm and everything in the house keeps working, then I'll assume this protector is doing its job and was worth the cost.
The electrician installed it quickly and with no problems. I'm glad we bought it and have it installed.

Don't be tempted to go cheap when protecting your electronics. A surge suppresser that plugs into a wall outlet is not big enough to stop transient spikes. With this one device your whole house is protected. Make sure you purchase the Ultra series. The micro and the max may not have the ampacity to stop a full blown power surge. I would also recommend installing a high end "monster" surge suppressor at your electronics to protect your equipment from any current that gets past the surge trap during a full blown power surge. I've experienced 2 transient spikes in the last 3 years due to bad weather. The first one destroyed my high end surge suppressors and all of my electronics. The second one destroyed my high end surge suppressors but not my electronics. Each of my high end surge suppressors cost more that I paid for this device.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by notagulliblemelonfarmer The best you can buy.
This review can explain more than I ever could. http://www.stevejenkins.com/blog/2014/10/whats-the-best-whole-house-surge-protection/
I also bought the coax Eaton since my PC has been struck 2 times through the cable, frying 2 routers, the onboard NIC, and then all the PCI slots. It is advisable to use one of these along with a type 1 if your power company allows it. Do not rely on the cheap APC and other brand ones since they will not do the job and APC will "forget you, my friend" on the warranty if you fail to mail in the registration card within 10 days. Do not simply file online like it says you can do on the card. It only protects the protector and not the equipment connected to it. You should also be plugging them into 3 prong grounded outlets. That will require more expense to rewire or there is a cheaper way which the electrician told me, but it's not really grounded since it is not rewiring the outlet by going through the roof and such. Installation only took 10 minutes for both.
I bought both of these here with my business card which gives me full rewards at home improvement and office supply stores. The only complaint I had is they did not ship together despite shipping from the same dang warehouse and ordering both at the same time.

Easy to install due to good instructions, start to finish in less than an hour. It gives me peace of mind knowing I am protected against power spikes.
