Customer Questions & Answers

How wide should they be?

The area that has to be covered by curtains is 70 inches. I need them for a patio sliding door, not a window. I have two panels there now, each 42 inches wide. But the total of 84 inches is still not wide enough because of how the curtains form "pleats" at the top thereby shortening the width as they hang. If they were stretched out from side to side they measure 42 inches. But no one is going to be standing there stretching them out from side to side. So my question is, what width should I plan on? Are two panels each 52 inches too wide? That would create an additional 20 inches of material, 10 extra inches on each side. That may be too wide giving me too much extra material. Should I go for panels that are 48 inches wide? That would give me an extra 6 inches of material on both sides when they are hung. That appears to be a better fit. But I won't know for sure until I hang them and see. And I don't want to pay for two more panels, hang them THEN determine they are not the right size...too wide. Plus, it's easier to find panels that are 52 inches wide as opposed to 48 inches

These panels are made for your standard width windows, approximately 35 inches. Considering your curtain rods for a window like this will spread to about 40+ inches and considering that the standard for curtains should be 2 to 2 1/2 times wider than the space they are covering, a 35 inch window would need 2 panels. Thus allowing for nice folds or the pleated look. You won't want your curtains flattened out when closed. For your width, you'll need 4 panels or different/wider curtains. http://www.realsimple.com/home-organizing/decorating/curtains-window-treatments/wide-curtains

My curtain rod cannot be raised to accommodate the 84 inch length and can only use 83 inch curtains.

The blackout panels really work to keep out the light. We have a streetlight directly across the street from our bedroom and it has plagued us for over 12 years. We purchased these curtains recently and hung them this weekend (1/28/17) and other than normal light coming in on the outside of the panels and a small amount where they meet, they really do the trick in keeping the light out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect blackout curtains. Watching movies without glare is possible again! And they don't look oppressive when the lights are on. They are a nice spring like color in person.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect It is summer and I live in an older house with windows that do not block out the heat. When added with the heat from light, the livingroom was holding at about 5 degrees warmer than the rest of the house. These curtains have helped tremendously in keeping the cool air in and the warm air out (at least trapped between the curtain and window, which is the purpose). Great curtains!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good but wrinkly The drapes are thick and good at blocking light and look great now. My one problem was getting the wrinkles out initially. The instructions said to put in dryer with a damp towel, then touch up as needed with a cool iron without steam. Those wrinkles laughed at me when I tried that. It ultimately took a steam iron on medium high. Those were some tenacious wrinkles. I wish they would sell these panels rolled up on a dowel like wrapping paper, so they wouldn't be such a wrinkled mess. But overall happy with them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Eclipse Drapes I purchased 15 panels of thr Dane Eclipse black out drape. They look great and I had no problem getting the creases out. I just put a wet bath towel in with a couple of panels at a time and set the dryer.
