Rated 2.5 out of 5 by 2 reviewers.
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Unpleasant odor when sunlight hits them I'm fairly sure I've bought this same brand of black-out liners in the past (more than 5 years ago), and I did not have a problem with the old ones. But the new ones I bought last month give off an unpleasant odor. When I first took them out of the package, the odor was not noticeable. But after they were hung in a south-facing window for a about a week, they started to give off an odor sort of like dirty socks/sweaty shoes. The coating must be reacting somehow when direct sunlight hits it. So far, I'd say the odor isn't majorly offensive, and some people might not be bothered by it. By I'm sensitive to smells, so I will be replacing these with another brand. They do work fine at blocking light. The ones I had bought in the past came with a roll of magnetic strip, which allowed one to keep the edges of the curtain snug against the side of the window frame and/or keep the center edges closed snugly together. These did not come with any magnetic strip nor velcro - if you want that, you have to obtain it separately. May 17, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Blackout Liner This product does exactly what I need. It is great at blocking out light; it went up easily; the shipping was quick. However I can only give it 3 stars because it has an awful plastic, musty smell. I put it up in Florida where it is humid, but the smell is really pronounced. I am hoping it will dissipate with time.
