Questions & Answers

Can these be put on a rod

The windows have double rods. Can these be hung on the back rod? What is max size rod that can slide into the pocket?
Asked by: redoing
Yes, you can use a rod, that's how I hung mine. The rod pocket is about 2.5", large enough for most any rod.

54 inches total or 54 inches each panel?

Asked by: shelnc
This was the confusing part of the package to me also. It is 2 panels for a TOTAL of 54" in width.

Can these be used with grommet curtains?

Asked by: Fletch
Yes, you could use the enclosed hooks to attach them to the back of your curtains. They are lightweight enough that they would not "pull down" your current drapes.

Do these give off a smell?

I have a window that will be full, CA sun from sunrise to noon. I am worried they will emit a smell when the sun warms them up.
Asked by: DeeDee
I have noticed NO odor from the product, not even when being heated by the sun.

When they arrived the box was wet from the rain and I could smell them as soon as I approached the step. When I unpacked them the whole house spelled of it. I washed them twice in detergent and vinegar and the smell is gone. The attachment method (with hooks) is awkward and looks bad. I am investigating another method of attaching them. They are very stiff and made of a plastic-like material. They do block the light extremely well, but I would like a better product.

You will be very surprised at the amount of light and heat that is blocked. They are very easy to install, giving you the option of using your own rod or the provided hooks to attach them to the back of your current drapes. They are light in weight and the 80" length is easily trimmed with scissors to match your needs. Do keep in mind when making your width measurements that there are 2 panels in the package, each panel is 27" wide for a total width of 54" in each package. I purchased them for my home and also for our local historical museum to keep the harsh south Texas sun from fading the photographs and furniture inside; as an added benefit the A/C is working less. I would buy them again, have recommended them and found the price and service at Home Depot to be the best deal.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good quality liner. This liner has made a huge difference blocking light from my picture window. As mentioned by other reviewers, one package actually has 2 panels 27" each so this needs to be kept in mind. Overall I am happy with this purchase and would definitely recommend
