Customer Questions & Answers

If a light fixture says it takes two 60 watt incandescant bulbs, can I use two 100 watt equivalent LED bulbs?

Asked by: ElectricallyChallenged
Probably. Is the fixture enclosed? If not, then no problem. If it is enclosed, meaning no air flow into the area where the bulbs are located, it shouldn't be a problem as 2 60 watt incandescent bulbs produce quite a bit of heat. LED bulbs are cool to the touch, however the white base portion of the bulb runs very hot. It will burn your fingers instantly, should you accidentally touch it❗ Should you install them, I would monitor the light fixture for a couple of hours for heat buildup. I don't think their will be any problems however the closed environment may shorten the lifespan of the bulbs somewhat. Overall, LED bulbs operate much cooler than incandescent light bulbs.

Can I use this for my driveway outside. It will be covered.

Asked by: Rashaandjx
Yes, we also bought these for our outdoor porch covered light fixtures and they have a much better lighting than the yellow candescent lights. When you see our house as you are coming down a lonely mountain road it is bright and feels comforting and then you drive by on the way to your home feeling ah almost home. Our street has no lights and very few houses. A really nice light bulb in the forest.

Why is it for indoor only and not for patio lights?

Why is it for indoor only and not for patio lights?
Asked by: Phyllis
Possible because it is rated for damp locations, but should not be exposed to rain. It is recommended not to use it in "totally enclosed luminaires". It should be OK outdoors as long as it is not totally enclosed and is protected from rain. An enclosure open on the bottom should be OK. I am using it in such an enclosure and so far haven't had any problems. As long as air can circulate around it, it should be OK. This is probably necessary to prevent the electronics from overheating as they could if totally enclosed in a small enclosure.

I have used CREE bulbs, these and another brand. They are bright but have a limited lighting area. They fail quickly. Some within a week others only last a month or two. They may have multiyear year warranties but they must be returned to manufacturer with copy of receipt and proof of purchase(original packaging). I thought the bulb and receipt would be enough but it's not. Not to mention who wants to return bulbs every few weeks.

I used these bulbs to replace the 8 foot high output fluorescent fixtures in my garage. I was amazed at the light that these bulbs emit. For reference, my garage is 30 feet x 40 feet with a 14 foot ceiling. I previously had (8) of the 8 foot HO fluorescent fixtures and I used 32 of these bulbs in their place. These LED's are brighter than those fluorescent fixtures ever were and the daylight color of the LED's makes working on small parts much easier! If you are looking for a very cost effective way to get LED lights in a large area this is the way to go. The lower power consumption alone will make them pay for themselves very quick. Highly recommended. In the attached photo you can definitely see the difference in light output between the fluorescent and LED!

I have converted the compact florescent light bulbs to the Ecosmart LED bulbs. I like them very much, when you buy an led bulb or any bulb do not be fooled buy the "daylight" or "cool white" descriptions. The only way to truly know which color light you will get is on the back of the package. Look for the KELVAN temperature rating, 2700K gives off an orange glow while 5000K is a bright white light. The main benefit is more light for less money per hour of run time and oh yes these WILL START RIGHT UP IN THE COLD. I have 8 lights in my 2 car garage and it is like the sun is shining through the ceiling. These bulbs DO NOT get hot also there is no mercury in them unlike the compact bulbs. I would recommend this bulb to everyone who wants more light for less money to run and safer around children.

Nice natural color. Similar to an incandescent. Check them out carefully, as there are two colors. The natural warm yellow color and also a bright white. I have had these now for about a month. Knowing that I am saving money is a big plus. I plan on changing my entire house to these!

This was recommended by the electric person at Home Depot and I am really pleased. Buying light bulbs these days is brain surgery, but he really took the time to explain exactly what I needed and why these bulbs were worth the price. They are exactly the brightness I needed and will probably outlast me!

They are bright and the daylight color is perfect for my home office and closet. The bulbs are slightly larger than a standard incandescent 100W bulb. That may be an issue if your light fixture provides only limited space for its bulbs.

They are noticeably brighter than the incandescent bulbs they replaced. Having only had them for a week it is hard to say how they hold up over time.
