I never thought I would have bright light again in this old ceiling fan using narrow base bulbs. CFL bulbs took forever to warm up and still did not put out very much light. I was very impressed that these new bulbs are instant on and very bright from the first moment I turned on the switch. I tried to get picture to show dim cfl compared to bright new LED bulbs/ These new LED bulbs also are dim-able. The expected life span is far far longer than the old filament bulbs and appears brighter. I am so glad prices have now made them very cost effective.

This bulb only uses 4W but is quite bright (25W). I replaced my 25W and it puts out pretty much the same light. I have put it in my porch lamp which I leave on all night. Should last for several years. I love that I will be saving on my energy bill! It comes on instantly and is also dimmable if you have a dimmable switch.

this little bulb lights up well and has nice styling to it. Need to get a few more to finish the light so that is all led bulbs. It does appear to be brighter than the other bulbs but that's not a problem once the others are replaced and I have this light on a dimmer switch. It is easy to install just like changing any other light bulb and it is eco friendly.

The bulbs do what they are suppose to do but are ridiculously expensive. If they last 20 years I might be able to recover my money.

This light bulb is really well made and is also dimmable. Solid and durable. It is perfect for my hallway and I have tried to take a couple of pictures for you so you can see that the light does spread out. I am really liking the LED lightbulbs. They last so long and really cut down on your electric bill. This is the 'soft light' and is wonderful for me because I leave this light on all night. Recommend highly.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by EightOfEight looks weird next to the older style bulbs
My dining room light has 5 shades. These newfangled bulbs are slightly larger than the older style of incandescent bulb, and that bugs me because my light is styled in such a way that the tips of the bulbs are visible from the bottom. Until the other 4 bulbs burn out, I am stuck with being able to see how this bulb doesn't match the others. Plus, since the part of the light near the stem is solid/opaque, no light comes out of that part of the bulb; whereas with the old style bulb, the light shone out of every direction. It looks odd to have 4 of the light shades completely lit up but the light shade over this new bulb is lit only on the bottom half.
If you are the type of person who doesn't notice that a picture frame is hanging slightly crooked, then you won't be bothered by the difference. But for me, I will have to replace the other 4 bulbs now or it will drive me batty.

I purchased these for use in a ceiling fan light. I purchased them because they were less expensive than the Phillips bulbs I usually purchase. They have 2 issues; one functional and one aesthetic. Functionality wise the lights flicker whenever a large power draw occurs in the house (a/c, microwave, etc...). This is not an issue with the Phillips bulbs in the same fixture. From an aesthetic point of view the LED bulbs only cast light 'forward'. The back half of the lamp shade is dark where it would have been illuminated with an incandescent bulb. I would not purchase LED bulbs for use where the bulb points up but you need the light cast down. In the ceiling fan usage it seems OK.

What this bulb lacks in style, it makes up for in savings. I use mine in my porch light that I leave on all night. I found that the soft white creates a comparable color hue as an incandescent soft white bulb. Maybe a little more on the orange side, like a security light you see in the country. I also tried it in my entry light with 2 other incandescent candelabras and the color looked similar enough that I didn't notice a difference. I also didn't see any jitteriness that I see with LED Christmas lights. The only thing I don't like is that almost half the bulb is a plastic base. If you are thinking of using these in fixtures where the bulb is visible, this design feature kind of detracts from the esthetics of the light fixture. I don't exactly like how they look in my porch light, since it's a carriage light, but since I don't spend much time outside and no one can tell from the road, I can live with that.
