I inserted these bulbs into my ceiling fan lights where they are highly visible and I purchased these specifically for the dimmable feature as well as shape for easy insertion/removal. You cannot mix these bulbs with other types or dimming feature will not work.
I inserted 4 and while they do dimm as advertised, they do not dimm very low. So if you are looking for a truly low-light situation, i.e. kids going to sleep in low-light, these are not going to work well.
They are extremely bright however if you power up all the way. I know they are energy efficient so I will keep them but not sure I will purchase for other fans due to dimming limitations.
I cannot comment on quality or lifespan as they are new. They are still expensive in my opinion.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Tim2013 Nice color and reliable over time
My family has been using this light bulb for over a year now and we are very pleased with it. We use it for low indirect lighting in our office to prevent eye strain while using our computers. The light produces a nice warm color without any noticeable flickering or overheating as I've sometimes seen with other inexpensive LED bulbs.
The bulb housing appears to be made of a clear but durable plastic and has survived being dropped from a few feet in height to a hard wood floor without any ill effect. It fits in any standard light bulb socket and runs on normal household power.
These bulbs would be ideal for use in many accent, pendant, or chandelier style lights where an individual bulb doesn't need to be too bright.
I plan to purchase more of these bulbs for a variety of uses around my home.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Bones Four Watts of Bright Light!
• Very Bright • Creates Almost No Heat • Lasts 18 Years
While using only 4 watts, this little bulb provides much more light than the 25 watt incandescent bulb it replaced in my desk lamp. It really surprised me; in fact, I alternating kept placing the old and then the new bulb into the lamp and the difference was amazing! This is a little powerhouse. And it's rated to last 18 years with normal use (3-4 hours of use per day)!
HINT: If you find the bulb a bit too bright or too harsh, do what I sometimes do with LED's: Since they create little or no heat, you can safely wrap a piece of yellow paper around it and tape it securely in place for a softer, warm glow. With this small bulb you might try a medium-sized Post-It!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by UTbadger Very Bright
This is a very bright bulb for its style and wattage. Most decorative bulbs like this are frosted to some extent, while this one is clear - giving as much light as possible from 4 watts (25W equivalent). I use it in a small desk lamp that I want good reading light from. It would also be good in a chandelier, especially because its dimmable.

These are small and just right for the location I needed them, over my kitchen sink. In fact I am going to buy 2 more. They are under the cabinet lighting for me in a very small kitchen where the ceiling light is located behind me.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Teeds Great light but slightly large for some fixtures
This luminaire is slightly large for some applications. I assume the form factor of the LED requires the bulb to be the size it is.
I like the overall quality of the light but am wishing that the quality of the light was a bit warmer. Incandescent light is warmer in appearance so the 2700K light appears cooler. Color is a personal preference but the LED industry will have to deal with this issue to further the sales of LED bulbs.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by theview It better save money!!
I like the old technology. better. These new ones may be cheaper to run but the higher price has its drawbacks too... These lights are more of a direct beam and not as soft as they claim. Save your receipt and take them back if you dont like them. But its probably the best we are going to get from now on.....
