Could i install this in a mobile home?

Asked by: intriguedbuyer
I see no reason why you couldn't. Just meet the electrical requirements. Older mobile homes may not meet those.

I have a 2 person Jacuzzi tub and a double headed shower. Would this be able to fill the tub or run both shower heads?

Asked by: Laura
This is impossible to answer without more information. Tankless water heater capacity (the ability to do what you want) depends on 2 things: the amount the water has to be heated and the flow rate needed. So to answer your question you need to know how many gallons per minute (GPM) your Jacuzzi fills at and then how many gallons per minute your 2 shower heads put out when they are both running. Next you need to calculate temperature rise by subtracting the temperature of your incoming water (use any tankless water heater sizing map) from the temperature you want your hot water to be. (110F is a good hot water temp. for the shower head. The Jacuzzi from 105 to 115 depending on how hot you like it.) Use the tankless water heater sizing guide to determine how many GPM can be output at your temperature rise for the model you are looking at, then go up or down in model size if you need to in order to find the model that can do what you want..

What do I need to do to the service panel if I don't have room for 3 double pole 40 amp?

Do I need to put in a sub panel off the main service panel and if so what amp breaker should be going to the sub panel?
Asked by: Rusty
You may be able to remove some spare breakers, or re-position some of the active ones, look for wires connected to them.

Will this tank work for a hair salon with 2 shampoo bowls, 1 bathroom sink, and 1 kitchenette sink?

Asked by: Charmaine
Should be fine, I'd check and see how many GPM the shampoo bowls use. It's probably common you'd use both at the same time, so make sure their GPM, added together, doesn't exceed the suggestions in the sizing chart for your region/incoming water temperature.

Does this run on 220-240 volts? I want to use it in Ghana, West Africa. Also, how much does it weigh?

Asked by: Wotgwriter
This unit will work with 220 or 240 Volts input, Amperage will change accordingly, Ohm's law, P - watts over I - amperage times E - voltage. You will need a 200 amp service the unit does require three double pole 40 amp breaker's. This is equal to six slots in your breaker box. The weight is minimal, about 15 LBs, it can be found under the specs online.

I have a 9 studio building. Would this unit be sufficient?

In a 9 unit studio building, I need a heater that can provide hot water for at least 6 units a the time. How many gallons per minute would make the trick? Thank you very
Asked by: diego
No. two baths at once only. If you use one for each studio yes. That would be crazy power draw. Get several hot water tanks and daisy chain them. I am not a plumber so can help you with that.

27 kW Self-Modulating 5.3 GPM Electric Tankless Water Heater is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 152.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Electricity saving is great. I found the tankless hot water heater very simple to install and it has worked very well in providing plenty of hot water. The 3/4 inch water lines seem to be to large for plenty of hot water. I installed a 3/4 inch shut off on the supply line and needed to close it some to slow down the flow and then we received plenty of hot water. The biggest problem was getting a licened person to sign the warranty card after I had done the install. In Conn a home owner is allowed to install anything in his own home, electrical or plumbing legally, of course with a permit. I felt the requirement to have a licensed person sign the warranty card was a surprise as well a an extra burden. The directions were very clear and easy for anyone to follow. Mark from Connecticut

I have a Jacuzzi tub that fills faster than 5 GPM (plus 3 showers + a washing machine + a dish washer, etc.) so I've put two of these units in series (see photo), setting the first to 126 degrees and the second to 124 degrees so that the second is activated only when needed (quite rarely). For the first time since we've lived in our house, our kids and guests can shower or bathe in hot water ever after we've filled our Jacuzzi tub. Fabulous!!! Did I mention that this product has a lifetime warranty and has a super-small footprint. I've been replacing my way-too-big (80 gal), way-too-energy-hungry water heater every 8-12 years like clockwork (rather expensive). Now I think we're set for life!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from ECO-27 I bought the ECO-27 on line. It had a September 19th arrival date, it arrived on the 17th. Since the unit requires special electrical hookup I had an Professional electrician install the wiring and double pole 40 amp breakers. I also had a plumber hookup the Water inlet and outlets. This is required for the warrantee. While we have been using the unit for a week, It has worked as advertised. It is extremely easy to set the hot water temp. you want. I have set our unit for 120 degrees F. So far we have used the unit with 3 hot water sources going at the same time; Dishwasher, washer, and shower with no loss of hot water. One unexpected thing was that in our master bedroom shower, it was taking up to a minute or longer for us to get hot water. Now it only takes about 30 seconds for hot water to get to the shower. If you are planning to buy this unit, be sure to budget for the electrical hookup and pluming also unless your are more of a handyman than I am.

The first one gave lukewarm water. Evidently only one heating element was working. Home Depot replaced it at no charge. The second one did not work at all and in addition it leaked at one of the joint in the heater. Ecosmart replaced the second one, so for a third time we found ourselves installing one of their heaters. This third heater worked well, and we breathed a sigh of relief...for 6 months! It has now quit working. So we are going to eat our loss, and buy a different brand. Three strikes and you are out!

Normally I do not provide feedback on products unless it is really bad or excellent. In this instance this product is ABSOLUTELY WORTHLESS. Called and spoke to a couple of different tech support folks at Ecosmart to make sure I was getting the proper size unit and still no good. Not sure how the Ecosmart did their testing to come up with their advertising figures, but in the real world there is NO WAY THIS UNIT CAN HANDLE ANYTHING MORE THAN A SINGLE SHOWER AT BEST IF YOU WANT HOT WATER OVER 105 DEGREES and that is with a flow rate of probably 1 GPM. Their advertising info. is so far from the mark, that it is a flat out lie and false advertising. Bottom line, this is maybe good for a studio apartment with one shower. If you want the full details read below. Total time spent (wasted) installing unit and trouble shooting about 16 hours over 4 days, not including time spent going to HD for parts. The ecosmart 27 model states 5.3 GPM, however, could not even get 2 GPM if you want hot water. The description states "The ECO 27 is one of the most powerful models from our full line of tankless water heaters, with the capacity to handle a large single-family home and is perfect for a large Roman-style and Jacuzzi tub or high demand of hot water between multiple applications, even in colder climates". 1. Location is Northern NJ (a green zone on their sizing map) and according to the map it should handle two showers and sink at the same time with the inlet temp being 52 degrees and an output at 105 degrees based on their website at 2. Home has 4 full baths (one with jacuzzi tub) and a 1/2 bath. Wanted to be able to run two devices at same time at the minimum. (kitchen sink & shower or Laundry and Kitchen sink, or two showers) Wanted to originally get the 36 model, but did not as I would had to upgraded the electrical supply coming into the house to 300amps (cost about $2,000) which I considered seriously but based on conversation with the tech support, went with the 27 as they said it would at the minimum handle two showers at once. Ran the required electric three dbl pole circuits with ground using 8 AWG wire and connected to the unit (spent ~ $600 in materials). Set the temp to 120 degrees and opened the hot water on sink closest to the unit. After waiting about 5 minutes or so water would not get hot, so I raised the temp to max of 140 degrees. Still no hot water (luke warm at best) Called tech support and checked to make sure that the proper AMPS (234 AMPS), heating elements, thermostats, and everything else was in good working condition but no hot water. One of service tech said, that the flow was to much and that I should use a flow reducer and suggested using a ball valve to decrease the flow rate on the outlet port on the unit. Re-plumbed the unit and installed ball valve and slowed the flow (volume of water) the temp did go up, however could only use one sink or shower at a time. When trying to use sink and shower water flow was diminished to a point that it is about 1/4 of the normal flow rate and really not good for showering. According to the map even in the blue zone with an inlet temp of 37 degrees, the unit should be able to run 2 sinks and a shower at 105 degrees with 2,7 GPM. There is no way this is possible, as I had to almost completely shut off the ball valve to get hot water guessing flow was reduced to ~ 1GPM to reach ~105 degrees. The water in the shower basically had no pressure but at least warm / hot. Then my wife tried to take a bath (jacuzzi tub) with nothing else and the water flow was a trickle and could not fill the tub (the water in the tub turned cold even though it was only filled up about a 1/8th of the way) Do not buy this product.... Had it for about two weeks. It does not meet my expectations.

I had one of these at my old house it seemed to work ok this new one can not keep the water hot for a full bath tub. It is strange because the water will be hot for a minute or so then go cold/Luke warm. Wished it worked. I would like my money back but probably hosed because I bought it 7 months ago for renovation. Now that I have finally moved in, I found it does not work well.

Completely satisfied with this water heater installed as a whole-house unit (2,200 sq ft, two bath house). It is easy to adjust the temperature of the hot water being delivered by turning the dial on the front of the unit. Temperature of the hot water is displayed on a large LED. I would not recommend this as a do-it-yourself project because of the electrical work that must be properly completed. For your own safety, please hire professional help to install this.
