This is the second set of four purchased. Two of the first batch failed within a year. I purchased these again because I could not fine the color temperature and wattage combination anywhere else. I totally dislike the 4500+ K temp bulbs as I find the bright white/blue too harsh, and the 2700 bulbs are too brown (i.e causing some color shades to appear brown). The failures seemed to be manufacturing problems (internal connections) vs burning out.

I needed 40watt bulbs for a new lamp, but couldnt seem to find ones with a bright white option in stores or even amazon. These are great and not too overpowering.

I bought 40 watt equivalent CFL light bulbs primarily to replace ceiling lights. The ceiling drywall in several locations in my home was burned black from overly high wattage incandescent light bulbs used by a prior owner before CFLs were available. Charred drywall caused by incandescent light bulbs is a good indication to use the much cooler CFLs.
However, my 40 watt equivalent CFLs have not shown anywhere near the 10,000 hour advertised lifespan. A storm with nearby lightening took out most of the CFLs in my house while all the remaining incandescent bulbs survived without any harm. No other electrical device was harmed, either. And moments before I wrote this review I replaced two CFLs in my kitchen after only 3 years use at less than 3 hours/day. I've gotten better service from incandescent bulbs that cost 25 cents each. In fact, there's an incandescent bulb in my grandmother's house that was placed in a closet sometime during the 1940's. Every time someone goes in that closet they pull the string and turn on the light. My grandmother is in heaven, but that incandescent bulb is still in the same closet where it was placed during WWII. And it still works fine.
Whether or not we use incandescent bulbs or CFLs or LEDs should be the choice of the consumer, not the dictate of the government.
I will continue to use CFLs where they are indicated, but just be aware that the advertised lifespan of these bulbs is a bit of a stretch on the part of the manufacturer.

Just what I needed for the white walls in my house. I will be ordering a few more packages of the same bulb. Wished I could have used my Military Discount. Oh well, I enjoy the coffee when I shop there. These little things mean a lot to some people and they are appreciated along with the good service I receive when I shop there.

I replaced 9 60 watt incandescent bulbs with 9 40 watt CFL. These are actually brighter, produces less heat. than the 60. I can run these 8 hours for the same cost as 1 hour using the incandescent bulbs,
