Questions & Answers

is Phillips LED 40w equiv daylight bulb suitable for ceiling fans?

I've never known what the difference between ceiling fan bulbs and regular bulbs is, but thought it might be a durability/resistance to vibration built into the cf bulbs. I'm not sure if LEDs even have wires in them, so how will they hold up to ceiling fan installations?
Asked by: Ellen
It is only Ideal for use in sconce, pendant, and table lamps.

40W Equivalent Daylight (5000K) A19 Non-Dimmable LED Light Bulb (2-Pack) is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 16.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from GOOD LIGHT BULB This is a good light bulb, I'll buy more when the CFL's I have now stop working.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Enlightening thus far Normally I would hesitate to spend $7-8 on 1 bulb, but the ads say they are cost-effective over the long run. My (psychological) problem is how does one know if they actually last as long as claimed--label each one with the proof-of-purchase and date? I'm trying a few in select hard-to-reach places and thus far they seem indistinguishable from incandescents in intensity and color. They also don't have the lag time to full-illumination that CFLs have, as well as their disposal problem. So, I would most likely continue buying them as individual incandescents go out--just to spread out the overall purchase cost.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Buy! I began to use these LED lights after purchasing some at Lowe's which were only sold individually for a higher price and one of the lights already began to flicker and fail within 4 months of use. These lights are perfect, install easily and are the prefect lighting for my home. I have had no flickering or failing of any of the bulbs, which I have 18 in my home currently that I bought over time. They have helped in reducing my electric bill as well. They are more effective than CFL's in how little energy they use but have a huge savings over incandescent bulbs. I am very happy with my purchase and would recommend them to anyone. I prefer the daylight brightness over the others as it is a truly bright white light that helps illuminate my home.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from 2 pack * 14.95 Dol LED LIghts The pack is cheaper than buy a single bulb. I bought to try the LED lights by first time and it helped me to reduced the electrical bill cost by around 5-7%. The substituted light bulbs were the ones used more frequently in home (3 in total that includes the 2 of this package and one equivalent to13 W). I need to try more styles. At the beginning, in comparison of the previous ones, seems that the light is less potent but is one - two week after is not a problem.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Cost effective but not worth it. I purchased four bulbs over six months ago and I finally had to remove them from my ceiling fan. For months the lights flicker every once in a while but it has been getting worse. After monitoring the voltage in the room I determined that the bulbs are the problem. I would not recommend these bulbs unless you can tolerate flickering lights.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice and Bright The two LED bulbs went into my new pendant lights which will be hanging over my new Island in the kitchen. Not complete yet but hopefully will make the counter top sparkle when installed. What I really like about the LED is that the bulb stays cool to the touch. Plan on changing all my CFL bulbs to LED eventually.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Shocked in how bright they are. I was replacing two old cheap incandescent 60W bulbs in the hallway and over the showers. These two bulbs are much brighter than expected. I've been buying new bulbs for the past few months for our new house and these have been the best bang for the buck so far.
