Purchased set of two bulbs for bath vanity. Number one, these say 2700K color temp which should be a very warm white virtually the same as incandescent. The bulbs are nowhere near that, much cooler white next to other bulbs and you can definitely see the cold white light on your skin in the mirror. Next, I installed one bulb and a few days later it is flickering at about 1/4 brightness. This of course is in a bathroom where you will be burning the bulb intermittently and will have significant on/off cycles throughout a day; probably not a good environment for CFL. I would get LED but unfortunately simply can't find a globe style LED at any price. For now I guess I will stick with incandescents.

Rated 4 out of 5Â by MattMD I purchased 16 of these for the master bath vanity. All 16 worked perfectly (in contrast to another reviewer's experience for a slightly different bulb from the same manufacturer). Far less heat (and hopefully electric cost) with these and my wife likes the quality of the light much better than the soft white incandescents that were in there before. I was reticent to use the CFL's because of the Hg in them, but then discovered that my local Home Depot has a recycling bin for CFL's so they don't end up in the landfill and then the mercury ends up in the drinking water. Kudos to HD for offering this!
I'd have given them 5 stars if they weren't so pricey...

Unlike many other reviews, these bulbs have functioned flawless for the past 14 months.
KEY NOTE: the first lighting should be for 8 continuous hours if possible. This was mentioned to me by an electrician as a key to cfl bulbs reaching full potential in brightness and longevity each and every time.

More than half of the 16 I bought malfunctions (went dark) within 12 mos. Awful. I no longer have packaging so I'm out $160 and have to replace these with LEDs. I wish Home Depot would refund but again, I don't make it a policy to keep packaging or receipts for more than a month!

These bulbs were to replace incandescent bulbs that burned out on my master bath vanity. 3 out of 8 are already out after 18 months. I only use them an average of 2 hours per day. Because I didn't save the receipt, I can't submit a claim with the manufacturer. I'm very upset that I spent so much money for these bulbs and they were sub par. Buyer beware and save your receipt...
