Bought two 4 packs and one bulb is dead already after only 6 days and hardly any usage at all. Hoping this is just one of those freak chances but I am NOT feeling confident. Good point on these bulbs is they are smaller and thus fit a wider array of lamps. They also give out a fair amount of light. Now if they will just hold out for 3 years. Yes 3, NOT 9.
Note once more that the warranty info is INCORRECT. Webpage states:
Manufacturer Warranty 9 Year Warranty
Package states 3 year limited Warranty
Will be returning dead bulb to HD this week and I will update this review after.

I am a huge fan of compact florescent bulbs. I currently have over 30 of them in my home, about 24 of them are these 40w equiv. (9w) Ecosmart Soft White bulb. I like these specifically because they offer great light (not that intense generic florescent kind of light), for a great price, and they save you a bundle over time. Here is what I mean, just for the 24 9w bulbs, i would normally have 24- 40w bulbs using 960watts, wow, (obviously I don't have every light on at once, but you get the idea) and with these, i am only using 216 watts, for the same amount of light! Seems like a no brainer, right?? I also like that the newer cfl's contain much less mercury than before. Can't understand why everyone doesn't have these!!

Rated 1 out of 5Â by vl0122 horrible buy
Bought the 4 pack for my bathroom. The first bulb started flickering and sounding like a bug zapper within the first few days of using it. Tried it in different lights and it still made the noise, the light then stopped working all together. About a month later another one of the bulbs became extremely dim almost to the point it was barely on. Would not recommend. Waste of money.

I have recently used my wattage meter and went thru the apt looking for "energy monsters". Well...I found 'em! With the help of my local Home Depot, I am now only using 2 KWH per day! That is 60-70KWH a month in my 400 SQ FT APT. One project was to reduce the wattage of my lights.
I was already using 100W equivalent CFLs at 23 watts each but I am on a quest! After reviewing these VERY LOW WATTAGE bulbs, I knew they would fit the bill. I already have a 2 watt led bulb but sometimes I need more light so I found myself kicking on the CFLs now and then. I saw these 9WATT CFLs that put out 40 WATTS of an equiv standard bulb at only 6 bucks for 4! WOW!
I put one in the kitchen, one in the shop, 1 in the livingroom and 1 in the bathroom. The light output is tremendous for only using 9 watts! I can run this bulb every night from 7PM - 12AM 7 days a week and it will only cost me about 15 - 18 cents per month! What a deal! I recommend them to everyone who doesn't need a 100watts worth of bright "sun light" and can get by with a nicely lit 40WATTS equiv. This will pay you back long term and conserve energy too so you get paid back twice ( = Thanks Home Depot!

I've bought several of these lights in 60w equivalent and have had them for a year now (they work great and haven't burnt out). So when I saw the cost of these, I had to snatch them up! I actually unscrewed one of my 60w and put the 40w next to it and you could barely tell the difference in brightness! Definitely have to buy more of these while they are on sale.
