I am using several of these bulbs in a portable video light. If I adapt from my current 12-volt lead-acid gel-cel battery to a Lithium-ion battery, it will require either 10.8 volts or 14.4 volts.

Replace Halogen Track Light Bulb with Ecosmart M16/GU5.3 - Flickers

This question is from 50W Equivalent Bright White (3000K) MR16 LED Flood Light Bulb (E)*

I have track light over my desk with 5 - 12V 50W halogen bulbs. Heat source as well as energy hog.

Decided to test a replacement LED bulb. Found ecosmart MR16GU5.3 bulbs at Home Depot. Installed on one transformer, to my disappointment it flickers unacceptably. Tried replacing with same kind of bulb, just in case. No change, both flicker enough to cause headache.

Suggestions please??

Answer:
Since this is a 12V low voltage system you are placing them in, the flickering maybe due to the type of transformer that likely won't accept LED bulbs, since LED bulbs in GU5.3 bases didn't exist when the fixture was created.
My suggestion would be to contact the manufacturer of your fixture, which should have writing or a sticker somewhere on the fixture, you can then contact them to see if you can use Read More

Rated 3.7 out of 5 by 9 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great color rendition I just replaced 500 watts of lighting with 80 watts and still have the same or better lumen output. The color rendering is much better. My walls are the color that we remembered them to be, not colored by the halogen bulbs. I hope to avoid having to go into these ceiling fixtures to change bulbs for a long, long time. The photo shows the LED bulb on the right and the hold halogen on the left. Much fresher, better color from the LED. January 14, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good LED Bulb The color and out put of these bulbs are as advertised. I'm using them in a 6 bulb track light in the kitchen. They have a nice bright white light. The only reason I'm not giving them a full 5 start is the 1 of the 6 failed at the 1 year mark. At approx $30 a piece, I was a little disappointed. October 13, 2015
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Bad batch? I bought two of these just over one month ago and they both died within a week of each other. They seemed very solidly built and they are really bright. Much colder color temperature that the unknown-incandescent they replaced. Since I swapped the old bulbs back in I realized how different they really were. After the initial color change shock I really liked it. The fixtures I had were DC, but there was a slight flicker when on. I'm not going to rate these horrible because bad batches happen. I'll bring them back and see what HD can do for me. If I pick up another set and THEY die in a month then I won't feel bad giving a "1" rating. February 3, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Just as bright as a halogen! I bought one of these in the store and was a little skeptical if this could compete in brightness with the halogen. To my surprise it did and I am back to buy some more. I have RP, a progressive eye disease and need good lighting. The package indicates "bright white" and the back has a graph at 3000K. These are a bright white, probably 5000K which I prefer anyway. This is also dimmable so can be used in most location. These are a little pricey, however about average for competitors and cheaper in packs of 4. I don't usually take the time to do these reviews but give an A+ where one is deserved, time will tell on longevity. October 14, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by This model bulb generates excessive radio interference A neighbor installed 9 of this model in their kitchen. They generated excessive electronic radio emissions far above FCC part 15 and 18 standards, creating interference in the 108 to 135 MHz aircraft band, 144-148 MHz licensed amateur radio band and into the 148 to 174 MHz Public Safety spectrum. Removal of the LED bulbs and replacement with the halogen bulbs previously used cleared the interference. The neighbor was very cooperative once notified of the problem. The responsibility for the cure is with the generator of the interference. Failure to rectify can result in very stiff fines by the FCC. These bulbs were tested by ETL similar to UL but carry no FCC approval. February 18, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best MR16 LED i have tried yet! This is approx the 15th different MR16 Led i have tried over the past 3 years. It shines as bright as a new 50 watt mr16 halogen!. The color is just slightly ( i mean slightly) whiter than a halogen,it is only noticable if you have both bulb types side by side. Runs very cool, no noise from 3 feet away. I cant stress how much i recommend this led ! November 8, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by great led light finally Great light color. Its white, not some sickesh hue of blue or gray or yellow. Just pure white light. Its pretty bright also definitely at least equivalent to my halogens of 50 watt. I did have to bend so slightly the prongs to make a tighter connectuion . January 3, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Flickers on dimmer I put this is a bedroom headboard fixture that had two independent lamps with dimmers. The Philips 10-watt LED would successfully dim. But this bulb flickered at the lowest setting. It may be that it is an AC transformer. Beware if you're fixture isn't DC. The light output and color were fine. November 10, 2013
