Needed an incancescent flood, so I decided to replace all three in my fixture with CFL's. This is the only dimmable bulb I could find that fit into the base. The bulbs accent artwork on the walls nicely and provide plenty of ambient light. No problem with dimming, buzzing, or strobing. It remains to be seen whether each bulb will save me money or last 7 years. I've kept my receipts, just in case.

I purchased four of these r20 cf bulbs to use in my living room and needed something dimmable I wanted to replace the halogen ones that put out so much heat, and be energy efficient. They say they are dimmable and I have the Phillips r30 cfb’s in my kitchen, so I thought these would work great too. As like the Phillips I turn them on full and then dim them down. They worked great for the first two weeks and then they started to flicker if they were dimmed down much at all. Now in the fourth week two just burned out and one is flickering even when all the way up. Bottom line; do not waist your money on these bulbs.

These bulbs were on sale. They are OK if you have an opening at the top of the fixture. They are useless if the bulb is enclosed in the fixture. way way too dim

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by GregH Nice bulb, but not good for dimming
This bulb has a nice light color for a CFL, but the dimming ability is very poor. Like all dimmable fluorescent bulbs, it creates a noticeable buzzing sound when dimmed (no sound at full brightness). The noise is not a major problem when used at some distance (e.g. ceiling), but these bulbs have another problem: when dimmed below about 50%, they produce a noticeable strobe effect. And yes, I did use a dimmer switch designed for CFLs. I also adjusted the brightness dial over the full range with minimal improvement. Only use if you need slight dimming.
