Are these bulbs yellow or soft white?

We have used bug lights for years but they only last a couple months. I found these on-line and the year life is much longer and we are interested in trying them but want a yellow that puts out yellow light. Your site says soft white light. I don't want to receive 20 light bulbs in a soft white output when my husband wants the yellow light output. Thank you for your honesty.

Answer:
I'm not sure of the exact dimensions, but the base is the same size as a regular light bulb and the bulb itself is about the same length as a regular incandescent bulb.

An incandescent yellow light will work with the daylight on/off sensor. A CFL light or LED light won't work with the sensor in my experience. I cannot say for sure exactly why, but I believe it is because the sensor is designed for a load in the range of 60W. The energy efficient CFL and LED draw much less power. By the way, I bought a yellow LED light (it was not labeled as a bug light) and it did NOT work as a bug light. The bugs seem as much attracted to it as any regular light. I have found that a yellow CFL bug light does work as a bug light. Hopefully someday soon they will make LED bug lights and on/off daylight sensors that will work with them. Read Less

60W Equivalent A19 Wet-Rated Outdoor CFL Bug Light Bulb is rated 3.6 out of 5 by 19.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Bulbs - Not Dimmable - Reduce Bugs I switched my regular 60 watt bug lights for these CFL bulbs to save energy. They produced the same amount of light and bug 'defense' as the regular bug bulbs and are quite attractive overall. Two warnings however: 1) they DO NOT work with a DIMMER, flickering and/or totally shutting down; and 2) they do not totally eliminate bugs but do greatly reduce the amount, significantly more than normal 'white' bulbs. Other reviews of bug bulbs are critical when bugs are not completely eliminated. To me a significant reduction is a reasonable expectation.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent, long-lasting bulb Use a dozen of these bulbs outside a seasonal ice cream stand in upstate NY. Bulbs work well and have lasted for years. The enclosure protects the bulb and is safer to use than an ordinary yellow pigtail CFL. Our only problem is in the off-season when the shop is closed, one or two bulbs go missing every year. Apparently, others like them as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from GREAT BUG BULB I HATE WHEN BUGS COME TO THE LIGHT WHEN YOUR TRYING TO ENJOY A SUMMERS NIGHT ON THE PATIO. I CAME ACROOS THIS BUG BULB (NEVER KNEW IT EXISTED). THIS BULB IS GREAT ON MOST TEXAS NIGHTS IT REDUCED BUGS BY 100%, OF COURSE YOU WOULD GET THE OCCASIONAL BUG HERE AND THERE. THIS IS A GREAT INVESTMENT I'M GOING TO CHANGE ALL MY OUTDOOR BULBS TO THESE. THE 60W RATING IS PERFECT ESPECIALLY IF YOUR FIXTURES ARE IN PAIRS. ONE LIGHT MAY BE TOO DIMM.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from bug light This light was just the right size and brightness to put in my new outdoor lights. They make a warm soft light that makes the approach to our house a safe path to walk. Definitely a good buy.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from CFL bug bulb These CFL bug light bulbs do not work as a bug light. In fact the bulb appeared to draw bugs to it. Had to order online and simply a complete waste of time as had to return bulbs to Home Depot for credit. I realize now nothing works as a bug light.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lasts "forever" I bought my first bulb years ago after getting tired of changing out bulbs every month or two. This bulb has lasted many years and I'm so satisfied with it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from best bug light I've used Have used this model in four outside lights for several years. Good brightness and excellent life. The open spiral CFL bulbs I have used don't last anywhere near as long as these..

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bug Light Great bulb, has entended the life of all my outside lights and goes a great job of keeping 95% of the bugs away.
