Rated 4.3 out of 5 by 16 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Amazing efficiency, good light quality This is my first A19 LED - I've used PAR20 LEDs of various color temperatures, as well as a great number of CFLs. Overall, this bulb is simply a great product. I should note, however, that despite ordering this product, I was shipped the 8W (40W-equivalent) model, so that is what my review is based on. The color temperatures is relatively pleasing - but at 3000K, it's not quite like an incandescent or the 2700K CFLs available from competitors. I'd recommend a lamp shade to cut the bluish tone slightly. I've posted a picture to demonstrate the directionality of the light - I would not recommend this bulb for placement in vertical ceiling fixtures, as it does not direct any light out of the top, and thus will not shine light down vertically. It will work very well in table lamp fixtures, however. Overall, I am very impressed with this product. It produces the same amount of light as 11-13W CFLs, while using less energy. It also promises even longer life and no mercury content. If you want to be on the cutting edge, this bulb will deliver, but overall, for price/performance, inexpensive CFLs still win. March 2, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Goodbye CFLs, you've met your match Finally, a real contender to replace CFLs. I cannot stand the slow start-up and brighten-up time that many CFLs have. No worries with this Ecosmart LED bulb. It is instant on to full brightness. Perfect! I'm confident I'll never buy another CFL. I try to reserve 5 stars for the ultimate products, and I gave this product only 4. Why? The light pattern. It is not my favorite. That's a minor criticism, but potentially important. For many applications it doesn't matter. In that case, then this is the perfect bulb. I've addressed the light pattern issue in the attached photos. Basically, there is a dead spot in the center. This may not look good in some down-facing globe type fixtures. However, in an open basket kind of fixture, it may be better. In a regular lamp with shade, you won't see it. So your mileage may vary. The color isn't bad. It is a bit whiter/bluer than my standard incandescent, but is fine. I also feel it is slightly brighter than my 60 W incandescent. Perhaps it is the color. The good news it is bright, for only 12 W of energy consumption. Finally, I had to try this in a dimmer circuit. It works! It doesn't get as dim as my incandescent, but that's OK since that's ridiculously dim. It is fine. I can see a day as prices drop that I'll be buying the BR versions of LED bulbs to replace my dimmable recessed lights. March 26, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by BEWARE: Not for "enclosed spaces" I wanted to use it in an overhead light that has a glass globe covering the entire fixture, but the packaging for this bulb has a warning that says "not for enclosed spaces" (which is due, I'm guessing, to the need to have good air flow around the base of the bulb. It gets quite hot, as another reviewer said, and there are open vents along the base). The product description on this web site does not mention the usage restriction. For an open sconce or table lamp, however, I'm sure it would be fine, but for my purpose I'm switching to another bulb that is completely enclosed and that does not have a similar warning. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Much better than CFLs I have replaced 7 exterior fixtures that had 100 watt equivalent CFL lamps with these 60 watt LED lamps and I am glad to report they are brighter and according to my wife have significally reduced our monthly electric bill. I am an electrician with over 35 years of experience and strongly recommend these LED lamps for replacing incandescents and CFL lamps. Advertised longevity is still in question but I installed them about a month and half ago and they are still glowing bright ! LED lamps ARE the future ! May 27, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Dimmer problems The color of these bulbs is very nice for very white light. The downside is that although they claim to be dimmable, they seem to be incompatible with the Smarthome dimmers that I use. Unless I place an additional incandescent load with these bulbs, they don't dim properly and they blink to full bright randomly (this was if I used either 2 bulbs or 6 bulbs on the same dimmer). Although this could be a Smarthome dimmer problem, it seems that other brands of bulbs are working in other installations without these problems. January 27, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great for reading, Coming to market just in time! After testing this LED lamp in a spare portable desk lamp, verifying that it did work and drew 11.9 watts according to my kill-a-watt meter, I permanently installed it in a difficult to reach hallway light fixture because it just happened to hold the first 23 watt CFL in the house to fail. I began replacing all of our lamps with CFLs about 8 years ago and have just this year, begun to have a few fail. While I have 2 or 3 CFLs on the shelf, this LED lamp delivers a much brighter light and I anticipate buying a dozen or so of these to replace the CFLs as they begin to wear out. I was never really bothered by the delayed start of the CFLs, but this LED lamp has no delay at all. It gives a crisp, if slightly blueish tinted light. It works well for reading and general task lighting and I will certainly be buying more. March 3, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A very bright light! I was amazed at how bright this light was! I have used other CFL products that take a long time to become fully lit and still are not as bright as this 60W! When this bulb is turned on, it is bright, no waiting. I really like the design verses other products. It fits in all the light fixtures I tried it in from old lamps to newer models. I would recommend this product! March 13, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by works fine Really impressed with the lamp. Works fine with my Leviton smarthome/X10 dimmers. Just like flourescents, the base will get warm. LEDs operate at 2.2 volts DC, so there is always a cost in dropping that voltage. I replaced a halogen/enclosed 60w bulbs, and these a just as bright, and slightly "whiter". February 19, 2013
