Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by DIYinOH I'm a convert!
I was an early adopter to CFL bulbs and lived through the frustrating "fine tuning" period (remember when they had to "warm up" over a period of a few minutes?)... so I've been avoiding LED bulbs until the kinks were worked out.
I picked up this bulb through the seeds program, it's a 60W equivalent (actual: 12W) that puts out 850 lumens in the "daylight" spectrum (about 5000K color). The packaging indicates this will last 22.8 years and cost $1.45 a YEAR at 3 hours per day. I did a double take on that... less than $2 a YEAR. Impressive.
Color is accurate (5K is very blue, I would recomend it for outside or serious task areas only). There is no warm up time - this bulb is ready as soon as you hit the switch... and man is it bright! I used one bulb on my front porch and the whole thing looks like daylight when I flick it on.
I'm very impressed. I'll definitely be picking up a few more - especially when you consider the bulb most likely to be left on accidentally are the exterior bulbs.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Jimbo Great bulb very bright and should last a very long time and save money over time as well.
The EcoSmart bulb is extremely bright and uses only 12 Watts of power of the same 60 Watt equivalent. I built a solar panel system
late last fall and am using the energy I generate to power my workshop and make-shift greenhouse for my seedlings I later will
transplant in my gardens. I am using the EcoSmart A19 12-Watt Daylight bulbs to grow my seedlings and as a minor heat source for
the seedlings. The bulb creates so much light my seeds are thriving. Also the wattage of a single bulb has no noticeable usage
from my solar system that I actually run it round the clock sometimes. I plan to replace all the incandescent bulbs I have in my
home a couple at a time with these EcoSmart bulbs as I am amazed and now a believer of the brightness of the bulb and the energy
efficiency and money it will save me over time of their usage. Great product. I am very satisfied.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by BobC LED Bulbs continue to improve...
EcoSmart A19 LED, 60watt rated output light bulb. (SKU 183112) from Home Depot. This evaluation product was received through the Home Depot SEEDs program.
Initial impressions, The bulb is heavy as compared to similar bulbs. It weighs ~ 4.85 oz, is 2.5” in diameter, and 4.4” long. A similar CFL bulb weighed ~ 2.4 oz. The body portion is an aluminum heat sink for the LEDs and internal power supply circuits. The LEDs are arranged around the center of the bulb, like a “ring” and direct their light out through a diffusion lens made of clear plastic. The general construction quality looks well made. I measured the power consumed, and the power factor of bulb. It consumed ~14 watts, and exhibited a power factor of 0.92. I did not have a way to measure the light output other than a subjective comparison to a CCL bulb of similar size and construction. The light output of these units is quite good, in fact they produced more light than my CFL comparison bulb. The bulb is rated for a color temp of 5000K, or a white “day Light” color.
The bulb size is a good fit for most lighting fixtures. I install the bulb in several fixtures to evaluate it. Other than the additional weight, this bulb should make for a good replacement for CCL or incandescent bulbs. These bulbs exhibit a slight delay at turn-on, 1/2 second or so, but once on, they produce full output, unlike CFLs that only produce a low level at turn-on and have to warm up to reach full output. The vendor says they can be used with dimmers. I did try the bulb with a “stepped” dimmer lamp, that has not worked with CFL bulbs, and it seemed to work fine. I did not measure the bulb temperature in operation. The fixture that they are used in can effect their operating temperature. I have not noted any temperature problems is my use of it. I also tried it in a movable arm desk lamp, it worked ok in my lamp, but due to the weight of the bulb it may too heavy to be used in some fixtures. The light from the LED array is radiated out from the bulb central body in a 360 degree pattern which should work very well in most lamps and fixtures.
I have read that some model LED bulbs can cause RFI interference with home electronics. So far I have not noted any. I have wireless phones and a wireless network installed, have not noted any problems since installing the bulb. They are not cheap, but they should provide several years of use, and far lower power consumption than incandescents (~76% less power). As to reliability, time will tell. I would expect them to be more reliable than similar CFL bulbs.
For applications where the bulb would be hard to access or change, and reliability are prime concerns this should be a good device.

If you want a very white light, this is it. I thought it would be more of a natural white, it is one of those white, white lights, I dont know about longevity, but it states it will last a long time, I will have to find a place where the white light isnt as bothering as where I have it now. Also you should know, when I showed other people the bulb, their remark was the same as mine "wow, it sure is heavy!". Another plus is it is a rounder light, not like some LED that are only directed updward!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Ozaus37323 Better than other LED at same rating.
Have tried many different LED bulbs, many of which were higher priced. This LED produces less heat and diffuses light better, resulting in brighter room with no bright blinding of the eyes. The bulb is heavier than others, and in my opinion much better quality. Of all the LED's i have tried this is the one i will purchase again and again.
In summary this bulb is better quality, has better light diffusion without blinding and operates much cooler than others of same rating. I have been Using this bulb for 3 months and plan to replace all my lights with this one.
No cons for this LED works in all fixtures i have tried it in.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by James Not to be used with garage door openers
Bought four of these for my 2 garage door openers. The color output looks fantastic and really makes the car paint "pop" but unfortunately I will be returning them because they generate radio interference with my garage opener. I will be trying out the Philips version next. The Philips are Energy Star certified and these are not which is why these bulbs are on the cheaper side.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by reb177 Daylight bright
I've done the research; I've tried four different brands and two different types of LED bulbs. I have to say this particular bulb is by far the brightest I've seen/used. It shines a very white bright light in all directions. It would be most useful for lighting a large room/area.

The Eco A19 12w LED sheds more light than the 100w incandescence we use. Guess it is the "Daylight" feature of the white light it produces, but it really adds clarity to colors and shapes and makes looking into the mirror brighter! We'll be replacing all the vanity IC's with these!
