Bought some last year to replace the incandescent bulbs my ceiling fans came with. They work great without producing all the heat. Very white and bright.

I love these bulbs. The lighting fixture in my bathroom requires bulbs with a calendabra base and I was so happy to find the base available in "Daylight." My main concern was that the bulb would be too bright without a cover, but they are fine without covering. What I especially like it that I can see what I really look like when I put on makeup. I was happy to discover that I didn't look as bad as I did with the soft white regular bulbs I had previously used. Also, it could be my imagination, but the fuller spectrum of light makes me feel happier. They are very bright, though, and you can see everything. So, if you have things to hide, the "Daylight" series may not be the right bulb for you.

Rated 3 out of 5Â by rhony2 Annoying Hum on my Ceiling fan light kit
Having just gotten replacements for my 26 year old ceiling fans, I discovered to my horror that new ceiling fans come only with candelabra bases, which basically means I now have a boatload of 40 Watt (equivalent) medium base CFLs that I really can't use anywhere. Since the new ceiling fans only come with incandescent bulbs (kind of defeats the whole purpose of the Dept of Energy mandate moving ceiling fan lights to candelabra bases), and as an Arizona resident the last thing I need is to waste electricity on heat, I decided to get candelabra base CFLs. At first I bought a different brand candelabra base bulbs which were slightly cheaper than the EcoSmart bulbs, but they were not true "Instant On" bulbs as they only put out about 70% of full power on inception. Since I've never had any problems with the "Instant On" feature of medium base EcoSmart bulbs I have bought in the past, I decided to try these.
As I expected, there was no problem with the "Instant On" feature and they are clearly superior to the other brand on that feature. However they emit an annoying hum when used on my new ceiling fan lights. Since my new ceiling fans came with a remote that had a dimming feature (which I never use), I decided to use them on another ceiling light I had that did not have any dimming. There was no hum with that light fixture. However the other brand bulbs do not emit that hum when used with the new ceiling fans that have the dimming feature (which I never use).
So I would say the only real positive to these over the other brand was the true "Instant On" feature. The negatives were that they are slightly larger and slightly more expensive (even after my local utility subsidy). Still, I would recommend this for ceiling fan lights that do NOT have any dimming feature (whether you use them or not) and because, quite frankly, there are not a lot of alternatives. Yes I know CFLs are not recommended for dimmers and even dimmable CFLs have their issues, but until LED bulb prices come down (a LOT), I will continue to buy only CFLs.

Bright yes, Color horrible. It is akin to the horrid color from a regular fluorescent light. So unless you want a headache or to make your house look like you use nasty fluorescent lighting stay away.
