Customer Reviews

65W Equivalent Daylight (5000K) BR30 6 in. Dimmable LED Downlight is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 22.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Brighter & more beautiful lighting for one-seventh the wattage We replaced the bulbs in 14 can lights in one room with these LED lights. We first just replaced some of them, to see how we liked the new LED lights. These LED lights put out a much more beautiful and brighter whiter light than the yellowish light we were getting from our 65 watt lights that were at the other end of the room, so we quickly replaced all 14 & have been very happy with them. For the customer that had to return 3 out of 10 after just a few days, I would guess that you have the old style dimmer that is not designed for LED lights, and that damaged the LED lights. You need to do the quick and easy replacement of the dimmer to one that is designed to be used with dimmable LED lights.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Started to Flicker after 1 week I replaced 30 recessed lights in my house with 10 of them being EcoSmart 6 in. 9.5-Watt (65W) Daylight LED Down light Light Bulbs. Of the 10 I have returned 3 due to the light "flickering" after being installed for about 1 week. This represents approximately 3-4 hours of use. The other 7 lights seem to work fine. I expected something more when I saw these lights used CREE LEDs. Not sure if it is the LED drivers or LEDs, but either way I am disappointed. I should note that I had no problem exchanging them at HD and the replacements have worked fine so far.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Starting to flicker I have purchased over 30 of theses and after 2 months I already have to replace over 10 flickering ones. Just recently another 3 started to flicker. There's something wrong with these bulbs, I fear the all will eventually start to flicker.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from so beautiful! These aren't cheap but they are so beautiful. It's almost as if holes have been cut in the ceiling and natural sunlight is streaming in. We have 10 cans in our cathedral ceiling and are about half way done replacing the old incandescents with these beauties and the contrast is amazing, especially since we are going from a type that is warm light (a little yellow) to a type that is daylight (bright white). Totally worth investment because of the lower energy cost, lower heat emission, and beauty. They work with our existing dimmer, which is nice because that would be a pain to replace.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works & looks great, bright white light that is very dimmable My wife and I really like the daylight color (50K) and energy savings of the new LED lights, so when we had a major renovation done for our home, our contractor recommended these sealed LED lights for the ceiling cans which he found in 50K daylight color. We are installing 20 of them. They look and work great and are very dimmable from pretty dim to bright white light. Price is good for LED lighting which is expected to continue to come down. We can definitely recommend them.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from flickering flickering flickering I love the idea of these lights. They worked great when I first installed 2 of them on a non-dimmed switch in my laundry room. However, after a few days they started flickering. OK, no problem - I brought them back to Home Depot and promptly received replacements. Installed those... and they flickered too. Given all the flickering in these reviews, what's going on here? I spoke with Cree tech support and they did not even acknowledge a possible problem. Sure seems like a defective product.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from May 2013 install half flickering after 3-4 months I Bought and installed 14 such kits and out of them 8 are flickering after 3 months. Initially they worked fine! This is on switches and not on dimmers! I have emailed homedepot today so that I can get a replacement. Hope they will honor the warranty! those that work are great!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Love them and hate them becuse of flickering... I decided to make the upgrade to LED after my CFL bulbs, which where to last 5 to 10 year started to burn out after just three. plus the fact that they are "instant on". While the leap to LED's was still double that of CFL's, the math still works out if they do in fact last the 30 years as stated. While they are expensive, the only reason I decided to make the switch was because we plan on staying in our current house for at least the next 15 years. I replaced 13 can's with these LED's and decided to go with the daylight just out of personal preference. The one thing I did notice when reading reviews before my purchase was that this daylight model did have a much higher complaint rate (flickering) than the soft light models, but I decided to go for it any way, only because of the 3 year warranty they have and it is a long term investment/ decision. I... like others have experienced the flickering issue only after a few months of use. Of the 13 that I purchased, 3 started to flicker after less than one month, and I even have had to replace 2 of them for a second time. Overall, we love the brightness, color. look and energy savings of these lights...but just hope that when I get finally get all 13 to work beyond 3 month of use, that they don't fail just beyond their 3 year warranty...which is a long ways a way from their claimed 30 year life span. Lastly, the other great thing about these LED, which manufactures or reviews fail to mention, are that they are noticeably cooler. You can easily feel the difference in smaller rooms and rooms such as kitchens that may have 5 or more cans. While its easy to calculate and measure the energy savings of these LED because they are lower wattage...I know there is additional energy saving in AC due the fact that they run much cooler that CFL and the old Edison bulbs.
