Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by 9 Month life - NOT 7 Years I wrote a date on these bulbs when I replaced the incandescent ones I was using. Put in 4/15/14 and now 9 months later needed to replace them. I wouldn't mind paying the extra money if they actually lasted 7 years, and I might not even mind that you need to wait awhile for these bulbs to get bright enough to see, which is not practical in a laundry room. I will not buy these or any other "long life" cfls again. In my experience they never last as long as they say they will, and you also have to worry about disposing of these properly as they contain mercury. January 11, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by A bit tall My kitchen has eight R30 floodlights. When the last one burned out, I could not find an incandescent replacement. I inserted one of these, but it looked awkward. Thus, I replaced them all. True, it's just a 65W equivalent in a housing. (When the light is off, you can see the spiral bulb inside.) I do like the cold color. But they take a while to warm-up and brighten. I wish they were a bit shorter as one of the receptacles swivels and it looks odd with this bulb hanging so low. But like chihuahuas and bug-eyed gold fish, you get used to it. April 2, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Won't last a day. I have 12 of these in my house. about every other one won't last a day. None have lasted their rated life. June 26, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great Light, But Slow To Warm Up My wife and I recently moved into a townhouse with recessed lighting in our living room. The existing bulbs put out an ugly light - not enough lumens, but way too much heat - and we were looking to move to CFL to save a bit of cash. After trying three other solutions, we stumbled upon these. The light they put out is cool - both in color temperature and heat - and natural. Our ONLY complaint is that these bulbs take at least a minute to come to full output from a cold start. I've previously used daylight-equivalent CFLs in other ceiling exposures that were much closer to instant on, so I'm not sure if the enclosure plays a role in it or not, but I'm not going to take them back to try and find something better.
