We needed lighting for our large Master bedroom. We installed 4 recessed lights on a Lutron dimmer switch. Just what the room needed.

I've replaced most of my lighting with LEDs. While my quest has been price-driven, I have been especially pleased with the EcoSmart products.
LEDs for general lighting take some getting used to. My suggestion is that you pay attention to the light output as measured by lumens (more lumens = brighter light) and the Kelvin rating, which is an indication of color. Most LED replacements for a certain type of incandescent bulb have higher output in lumens. The soft white bulb, 2700 Kelvin, works very well for use in a residence.. Experiment with one room before you commit to doing your entire home with LEDs with a certain Kelvin rating, and give yourself at least a couple of weeks to get used to them before reaching a conclusion.. Once you adapt, you likely won't look back. If you wish to use lights on a dimmer, check to see that the package reads "Dimmable."
Be prepared to replace some wall switches as you upgrade to LEDs. Many existing switches and dimmers are incompatible, common problems being (a) lights remaining on at a low level, even when the switch is in the "off" position, and (b) lights that flash on and off rapidly instead of remaining on without flashing. LED-compatible switches should be clearly marked as such on the packaging.
LEDs will reduce your guilt over wasting electricity and will eventually pay for themselves many times over in usage costs. Bulbs with the right Kelvin rating brighten the home and are likely to improve the moods of people suffering from seasonal affective disorder (SAD). So they are especially recommended for homes west of the Cascades in the Pacific Northwest, where weather is gloomy for much of the November - February period. Your LED-illuminated home will be transformed from a dim, yellow cave to a more cheerful place where you can actually see things clearly.

If you are looking for dimming capability you may want to reconsider this light bulb. I replaced incandescent light bulbs with this light bulb. The incandescent light bulbs had a wide range of light out put from full brightness to almost off. These new light bulbs range from full brightness to about 40 or 50% reduced.

My application for thse lights is on a high ceiling which takes a 24 foot ladder to reah the fixtures. So long life in this application is of primary importance to me. So far I have replaced 8 regular flood lights with these LED devices and everybody who notices anything has remarked that they are a bit brighter when set to full intensity. Our application also uses the dimming feature and all eight lamps dim in unison. The reduced power consumption is an added benefit, it lets our dimmer controls run cooler.
Installing these bulbs in the fixtures was much easier than installing the previous incandescent lamps because these have a slightly smaller diameter, which leaves more room for my fingers to grip them. They are also lighter than the ones that they replace. Those benefits are important atop a 24 foot ladder.
