7.2 kW Electric Water Heater Booster is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 15.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Addition to our OlderHouse We've been struggling with our water heater taking a long time to send hot water and running out of hot water after about a shower and a half. We;ve talked to plumbers about replacing/repairing our water heater and neither was a viable option for us. This product opened up a much easier and cheaper way to remedy our situation. We had some help from a plumber to install just because I'm not familiar with working with hot water heaters but we had the system hooked up in no time. It has made a HUGE difference. We now have plenty of hot water in the mornings and it warms up much faster than before. I'd highly recommend this product, especially with winter setting in now

Rated 5 out of 5 by from satisfactory product I would first like to comment on the people that make up the eco smart company. I first was interested in a tankless hot water heater by talking to a few home owners who have them even that my current water heater works fine. Most of them had natural gas. Eco smart company builds electric tankless hot water heaters and hot water booster. When I called eco smart I talked to one of their techs. When giving him my information on the size, type, and usage of my house. He answered several questions that I had, so with that said the company have knowable customer service which is also friendly. The questions that I have for them about the ECO SMART BOOST was: Can I install on natural gas water heater they answer YES (you will need to run new electrical supply line), can it be install on the end of the water line by the shower answer YES, Can it work as a tankless water heater answer YES this one depends a lot on the temperature of incoming water for example if your water temp that is coming is only 60F you can run only 3GPM and it will keep up the water up to 120F So the best to use is for what is made for to BOOST the temperature at the water heater. Way did I call customer service is to check how friendly and how much the know about their product and they are really friendly and knowledgable about their products. The best application for this unit is if you have already electric water heater, at that point everything come in the box to get it up and running. For the people that have propane or natural gas water heater: you will have to run new electric line with designated double pole circuit breaker maximum 30 amp (1x30 double pole breaker) and 10 AWG wiring which can be spendy depending how far is your EL box. The unite itself is 8" x 12" x 4"

This product is a good and less-expensive alternative to adding another electric water heater when your current water heater can't keep up with demand. It boosts capacity by about 20 gallons of hot water during morning 'shower time'. It easily installs in about 2 hours although the instruction are a bit vague. The fitting that was supplied with the unit was of no use. It's a good idea to make sure you've got all the fittings that you need before you leave the store. The built-in display shows water temp to verify its effectiveness and flow rate. You can use flow rate to identify high-flow shower heads and replace them with a low-flow alternative. It has several mode of operation like 'vacation mode', etc.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A must have for families so everyone gets a hot shower First, I rated the Ease of installation a 5 only because I called my plumber to do the install, so that was very easy for me. But for someone like him who knows what they are doing, it does install rather easily. Besides the electrical connection, there is just one input (from your water heater) and one output (to your homes hot water line). The benefits are great. As a family of 2 parents and 3 children there is high demand for hot water in the mornings as everybody needs to take a shower before heading off to work and school at the same time. And it seems the last one to shower doesn't get their fair share of hot water (which is usually me most of the time.) This booster works well and has a configurable thermostat where you can set the units activation temperature in 1 degree increments and the outlet temperature. The display shows how the unit is working with a load display, GPM flow and when the unit is heating.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Read Installation before Buying Great product, easy to install and comes with everything you need ... 'IF' you have an electric water heater and you have space above the heater. I happen to have neither. So, I had to install a 30A breaker and run 10 gauge wire. I also had to buy connectors to gerrymander the water connection. That said, the benefit of using this with a gas water heater ... the gas heater will fire up when you turn on the water, and will continue to run even after this kicks in. With the combination of the two, I have not run out of water (as of this review, have not had numerous people trying to take showers). With an electric water heater, this shares its power supply. This diverts the power to itself when needed, and your water heater only turns back on once this is off (I assume from reading the directions and their claim of increase of up to 45%). BTW ... I also have their 6 gallon water heater. Been using it for over a year on a bathroom with a shower and sink. No complaints.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works, Quiet, Low-Profile The machine is working flawlessly. I used to get about 18 minutes of 120 degree hot water before it would get lukewarm. Now, I get about 27 minutes. I do live alone as a bachelor, so this product was not needed in my situation. Plus, I have a big 50 gallon water heater. Installing it was not that hard, only because I happen to do light plumbing & electrical work for a living. It took me about a day. I notice that it only turns on after I run the hot water for about 20 minutes. I think it senses when it's cold, & then the unit fires up the water for an additional say 10 minutes. If you have a bigger family than me, and can afford to pay an installer, then it might be of use.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works great! I have an older house and it often takes several minutes to get hot water to the 2nd floor. It also gets used up very quickly. If you're the second person to take a shower in the morning, you've got about 2 minutes worth of hot water. This SmartBoost has been a lifesaver! We had our handyman install it and he was done in under an hour. Combined with a water-saving shower head, we now have lots of hot water and it lasts through 3 showers! It's a much cheaper option than buying a new, bigger water heater, which was going to be the next step. But this booster is working great so far!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great but not for DIY Installation I love the concept of this booster for added hot water capacity using your existing hot water heater. THIS IS NOT A TANKLESS HOT WATER HEATER! I say that because I called 2 separate Master Electricians who both looked at this product and said I could only hook it up to one bathroom or kitchen because it was too small for the whole house. I HAD TO SHOW THEM A LOT OF DOCUMENTATION AND HAVE THE ELECTRICIAN CALL ECOSMART TECHNICAL SUPPORT TO UNDERSTAND THIS INSTALLATION. Keep in mind that technical support at EcoSmart is only available from 9-5 Eastern Time. The Smart Boost can be installed on a gas or electric water heater as shown on the website but when I initially called the technical support line, they told me it had to be an electric water heater! It was only after I told him that the on-line video on their website indicated gas or electric, that he apologized and said I was right. You will need a 220 in your breaker box available or added to meet electrical code since, technically, this is a separate unit from your water heater even though it's "in-line" with the water heater. Again, no homeowner should mess with the internal electrical components of a breaker box! This entire installation took my electrician 2 hours. He actually built a backer board (see picture) so that this unit was stable above the water heater. I had concrete walls surrounding my heater so if you have a finished area, then it can just be attached to the wall for stability and you wouldn't have the added expense of an electricians hourly charge. Another complaint about installation is that the unit itself is shown in the horizontal position with the programming window lit up. The screw hole attachments on the back make the unit hang in the vertical position which causes the programming window to show the wording sideways. My electrician just screwed the unit directly to the backer board from inside the unit. (see picture). Programming the Smart Boost was pretty straightforward and the instructions were sufficient to do this myself. LED wording will not show up until you turn on water at any faucet. Just know that you may get a lower flow rate of hot water because the normal 5/8" piping goes down to 1/2" through this unit. Anyway, this unit was installed today so I haven't used enough hot water to know if it works as indicated but I'm sure it will.
