Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good light, good price. I have six of these in my kitchen. They are nice and bright, the color is OK, and the price is lower than that of many other comparable LED's. Yes, there's a delay when you switch these on. I would estimate that it takes a full second, no more. That's typical of LED bulbs and it's really the most trivial of first-world problems. But if it really matters to you, don't buy them because those seconds add up, and if the bulbs last 23 years as advertised, that's more than two hours of your life you will have wasted waiting for the lights to come on. Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by I would recommend this product, but... The light is a harsh white, like an industrial flourescent tube. They don't turn on instantly. If there are six together in a ceiling, they come on at different times, like a strobe light or flash bulbs. Unlike a spot bulb, the light shines outward and not down, which casts a harsh light on the ceiling. I could see using these outdoors on a pathway, but not recommended in a kitchen, dining area, or bedroom. They dont dim all the way, and the light is harsh even when fully dimmed. I removed them immediately because people and food looked so unappealing. I'm told I can return them, but the return process is not going as expected, so we shall see... November 19, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Almost too bright Bought a four-pack of these to replace a combination of dimmable fluorescent and incandescent lamps in my kitchen. The fluorescents did not dim well, and didn't last very long, so I was looking for something better. These lamps provide a lot of clean, bright light, and are easily dimmed. As a matter of fact, they are so bright that I usually have them set at 60-70% of maximum on the dimmer and it's still almost operating theater bright. I liked them so much that I immediately ordered four more so that the entire kitchen could be matched, and am very pleased. Only complaint is that they seem to cause static on the radio when they are on, but that is a small problem. They do take a second or two to come on when the switch is flipped, but is minor compared to the warmup time of most fluorescent lamps. Obviously more expensive than incandescent lamps, but they should last for years. December 10, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Wait for the new version or go with the 65 watt. This is last year's version of the "best flood". If you compare the spec's for this bulb to that of the current 65 watt bulb, you will see the 65 watt is better. The delay in the 75 watt is slightly longer than the 65 watt. Get the most Lumens/watt, and the latest model. Also, note that the CRI is 80 on this and the 65 watt while the swap out units have a CRI of 90. You want the higher CRI, although I found the color rendition of 80 to be fine. December 24, 2013
