Support told me told me to not use the blue wire as no place to connect it. Now no heat but do get cooling. Put the old thermostat back in and connected the blue wire and get heat and cooling. Is support wrong about the blue wire with the ct31a or am I trying to use the wrong thermostat?. Was using a programmable thermostat but wife has trouble changing from heat to cool so wanted to make it simple for her and just use a on off heat cool manual fan which she should be able to handle.

Answer:
I simply matched up the colors from the previous installation . the thermostate contacts are marked_ R W Y B . the R is bridged to a second R contact but that shouldn't affect you . Maybe the colors were mixed up at the furnace end . don't over think it, this is not complicated

Answer:
Most electric forced air heating systems require the thermostat to bring on the fan. The Honeywell CT31A does not have the option.
Instead, we would recommend the CT51N, which can be set to bring the fan on in a call for heat.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Got it to work after fiddling with it... I bought this unit to keep our condo at a constant temperature while we are away for several months. I installed the unit, and initially the heat would not turn on... I fiddled with the contacts, and the heat went on, and off, and on, and off, and on, and off in about 2 minutes... I then fiddled with the "adjustment lever" which is used to compensate for high efficiency/low efficiency/steam heat. I pushed it from the "Gas or Oil (less than 90% efficiency)" to the "Gas/Oil steam" setting and it seems to be working... I hope so. October 18, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Honeywell thermostats are garbage Why should I have to call India for simple questions that should be in the manual. Every aspect of these thermostats says "cheap" November 13, 2015
