Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by ManReview For the Price Excellant shelf
I am a build-it-myself type of a guy and was going to build my shelfing.... however this shelf is excellant both for the strength and the value. It only took about 15 minuts to put this together. I bought one 48 inch and one 36 inch shelf for my storage room and they are easy to put together (only needed a hammer to tap the ralls down in place) and are very strong for home storage. I would recommend these.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by friedtab Great, sturdy shelves
I bought 2 of these units online & picked them up in the store the following day. I'm a 45 yr old, average size woman and had them put together in about 45 minutes by myself. Put them together where I was going to use them. They are easy to put together and are very stable & sturdy. We're using them for extra food storage. I will probably be buying another unit to fit in the extra space as we've filled most of the shelves already. I would definitely recommend these.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by James Save yourself a trip back to Home Depot to return these.
These are a good idea, modular shelves. However they are horrible, cheaply made pieces of junk. The posts are extremely thing and flex. The braces that the shelves rest on will pop out when moving the product into position after assembly (if you can get it assembled). The shelves themselves are light weight 3/8 inch particle board, and there are no cross braces. No way this thing is holding 800 lbs per shelf (box says the entire thing will hold 4,000 lbs). Lastly the posts are in two sections requiring a connector to assemble to full height. These things are a joke. Following the directions to put it on the top of the bottom post then place the bottom of the top post into the connector and tap down to properly seat. I ended up with the top post driving the connector down over the bottom post. So rather than the two posts being coupled together, the top post just sits in 1/2 an inch of the connector.
Luckily the local Home Depot is only about a 15 minute trip.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Walker1847 Great, sturdy shelf for garage!
After assembling 10 of these in my garage, I can say that I'm now an expert on assembly of them. They go together very easily as long as you have a heavy rubber mallet to smack the pieces into place. The only tricky part is the 4 connector pieces for the vertical elements. But with care, they too assemble just fine. Can't speak to how well they will last, but I expect them to hold up to their promise of very heavy weight bearing capacity. I would buy more if I had space. My old plastic ones always ended up breaking with time and weight.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by KJ6YVY Flimsy. Coupler parts bad fit.
Lower section assembled easily enough. Then came the couplers that join the lower section to upper section. Instructions indicate "tap down to properly seat". One of the couplers slid completely onto lower post. Another coupler would not fit - after tapping with more force, the post and the coupler deformed, not because of great force, but because the posts are stamped sheet metal, 0.046" (just under 18 gauge).
I wrestled with the couplers for about 20 minutes, getting the shelf assembled. Flimsy, shakey if free standing. My intended use was next to an existing shelf and against a wall. So bolted to the existing shelf and screwed to wall, it will probably be okay. I would not use this shelf for free standing.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Mark adequate but not great
Though it did not appear to be upon opening, the pieces were, or are, easily warped. connecting the two sections (upper-lower) is a no brainer, but to achieve this you must hammer the connector... not a good thing nor an easy thing. the connector is easily bent or marred, making it difficult to mend/bend back into position. NO provision is made to place this on rollers, which would be nice if you need to move this unit around your work area. I have put four of these together.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Mountainman Good medium duty shelving
Good for lightweight to medium weight items. Shelf itself on the thin side. Good for "household" type items. Wouldn't recommend for heavy automotive type components. Shelves will tend to sag over time. They are made of low density fiber board. Worked great for my needs. Easily assembled.

Supposedly no tools are required. To attach posts together there are couplers. Out of the box the couplers would not fit. I had to take a screwdriver to bend them open so I could connect the posts together. Also had to take a hammer to bang them onto the posts. Without this problem I could have put the shelves together in about 25 minutes. Because of the problem it took me well over an hour. Once finished the shelves were sturdy and looked nice. I am on the fence about recommending this product. I bought two units so my put together time was doubled. Same problem with the second one.
