Rated 3 out of 5 by 8 reviewers.
Rated 2 out of 5 by Not recommended As mentioned by others, the four support bars that form the corners are actually 8 bars--a bottom half and an upper half. They are connected at the middle by the middle shelf and that is all. I suppose it was stable enough, but it was hardly comforting. Once the unit was put together (about an hour using three people to stabilize the various connecting pieces) the entire unit was uneven and flimsy in appearance. Had no desire to entrust storing multiple supplies on it, much less building the other five units that had been purchased. Also, the wood that's provided as the actual shelving is flimsy. I would recommend a complete re-design by the company, but the at the very least they could provide some kind of supports to slide underneath the shelving to support the middle areas to prevent future sagging. Rated 3 out of 5 by Good, but with one significant flaw I bought two of these shelves for storage in my garage. I didn't realize that the uprights were half height when I ordered, so each shelf unit is essentially two units that stack on top of each other. It would be easier to provide one piece uprights (the box is that long anyway) and it would make the shelves much sturdier. The shelves went together relatively easily. I had to use pliers to unbend some slightly bent brackets, and one shelf didn't fit quite right, but was quickly fixed. I'm concerned about the long term ability of the particle board shelves to not sag under load. I would give these shelves nearly five stars if the uprights had been one piece. September 2, 2011
Rated 1 out of 5 by Poor design for assembly Haven't had a chance to use this product and it may be very sturdy once assembled. However, in order to save money (I assume), the upright supports for the 72"H unit come in 2 pieces each instead of 1 long piece. This makes assembly very difficult as it is hard to keep the unit squared while assembling. If the uprights were each a single piece, it would be much easier to put together. I'm assuming the manufacturer did this in order to use the same pieces for both taller and shorter units, but it makes it difficult for the end user to put together. I'm assuming if you have one of the shorter units that requires only a single upright, it would be much easier to assemble. August 14, 2011
Rated 2 out of 5 by disappointing change in design Previously this type of shelving was available with 7-foot posts, which are very strong indeed. The present design (6-foot posts made of two 3-foot pieces) is significantly weaker and more difficult to assemble besides. The only clear benefit to the shorter "modular" design is that it's easier to ship. The inclusion of a bracket or brace to join the two pieces into one post would mitigate this bad design change. Rated 3 out of 5 by Posting again since my first post never made it this item was purchased by me for significantly less at homedepot.com last month. it's a good unit, not sure why they had to increase the price so much, glad I got them before this happened, otherwise 5 stars. October 11, 2011
