Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Phil rails for shelving
These rails are very easy to install and fit very snugly. It is almost impossible to move them once the whole system is put together. I did not know it at the time, but the shelves need to have a tie bar ordered and installed with them to keep them from rolling outward when weight is applied. The part number is ERT 24, ERT 36, etc depending on how deep your frame is. The rails are supposed to come with plastic pins to keep the shelves from popping up, but there weren't enough shipped with them for all of my rails, so we installed 1/4" bolts. I also don't know why, but when the rails are installed, it tends to twist the frame and make them out of square. That makes the shelving hard to install. We had to force the shelves in while two guys twisted the frame into square and then tie strap them down.
Now that the tie bars are installed, the rails don't rotate, and look much safer.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Shelvanator Great Racks for "In Between" Pallet, and Shelving...
These racks, and shelves, are great! We have a 5,000 sq ft warehouse that has lots of pallet racks throughout. However, sometimes the pallet racks are too large/too overkill for what we need to store. That is where the Edsal units came in to play. They are excellent for storing supplies, tools, packing materials, pretty much anything that requires ready access.
I was usually buying bakers racks for things of this nature, but their lack of a solid shelf turned me off. With the right sized ply wood, these shelves can hold pretty much anything you throw at them. Use thicker plywood if you’re putting heavier items on them. We have a load of jetski batteries on one shelf that causes the thinner plywood to bow a bit in the middle. But no big deal. The Edsal shelves are sturdy, easily moved around, and flexible in terms of configuration. ALWAYS get an extra set of shelves, you’ll ALWAYS end up using it!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Shawn stongest garage storage racks ever
I purchased a lot of these Edsal beams & frames for my 2 car garage. I now have super strong shelves that cover both side walls of my garage, & each one holds a ton of stuff. Literally these shelves can hold 2000 pounds of stuff. So much better than the cheaper storage racks with plastic parts or thin sheet metal. I have an engine block sitting on one with the a transmission sitting on the next shelf, with no problems. The racks & beams go together tightly with a tap from a hammer, & the cross bars bolt in with a nut & bolt on each end. The best part besides how sturdy they are, is the fact that I can disassemble & move them to my next house pretty easily. The uprights can be connected so you can have a wall of storage with half as many uprights, all attached together. It's all very sturdy, I climb on them all the time to reach the top shelf & I don't worry about the steel beams collapsing or the shelf tipping over. The steel parts are a durable powder coat black, & the parts I bought several years ago said made in the USA. They may be kind of expensive but you get what you pay for, these racks will last a lifetime for sure. The shelves can be wire or wood. I had a couple sheets of mdf that I cut & used for the actual shelves, but you can buy the precut shelves at the home depot. I'd buy more of these if I had a larger garage.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Shamann Tend to become bent in shipping
I bought quantity 8, 8' edsal beams to make 4 shelves. Once installed the beams are fine and strong enough to hold significant weight. You should use the short cross beams to support these beams. Edsal sells them or you can use a 2 x 4 as a support. It makes the shelf much stronger -- especially in an 8' long shelf. In shipping, the ends of a about half of the 8 beams I ordered were bent -- which makes them impossible to install. I had to bend them back into shape with a hammer and vice grip. I was able to install the beams -- but it was more difficult because some were bent. If the ends are not bent, the beams install into slots on the upright fairly easily. I use a rubber mallet to tap them into place once seated.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by cap045 Good, but....
The product is good. Putting it together was super easy. Unfortunately Home Depot doesn't sell the braces that are suppose to be used with these things. I'm planing on using some spare wood that I have laying around prior to adding MDF board for a shelf base. If you don't brace them (especially the longer beams) they will twist allowing the shelf base to pop out. The product is good, but again it is an issue of manufacturers not letting the box store know that there is another part that NEEDS to be sold with this piece.
