Q:Since these are vinyl, can they be trimmed to fit?

A: Thanks for reaching out. All vinyl shutters are decorative, with a hollow back. Due to this, we don't recommend trimming them, as the inside of the shutter would be exposed to the elements. However, we do have nearly every inch (and inch fraction) in vinyl shutters, as well as a huge variety of spaced "Board and Batten Shutters" in authentic wood (example Model # RBS06S11X059RWR). This should allow you to find the shutter size needed! If not, please reach out to a Home Depot Representative and they can assist you with Ekena Millwork Shutters.

The shutters should look beautiful once installed. At this point in time, my review pertains to the quality of the shutter's construction. On two of the four shutters we received, the vertical slats are separated from the horizontal slats in several areas. They seem to be attached by very weak and flimsy rivets. I did not perceive this as "damage", but rather a lack of quality control in the overall construction of the shutters. My husband has secured them with extra screws, which required the purchase of the screws, and his time to drill and attach them. Our hope is that they will remain secured once installed on the house. If not, they will likely beat against the house with wind, or possibly fall apart. This is very disappointing, since I paid a premium price for these shutters and expected much better construction. Since we like the way they look, we opted to keep them and eat the cost.

Nicely made but a little sloppy in the attachment of the "boards" to the crosspieces. Packaging is loose and I had two that had several of the attachment points broken loose during shipping. I took them back to HD and replacements arrived within a week. Easy to put up, but it requires two people. As another reviewer said a hammer drill is a must to attach them to brick or stone. The pegs that hold them to the wall are 3" long and I had to make 1 1/2" standoffs to pin them to my wall because of the brickwork. So I only have 1 1/2" of peg in the brick. I think they will hold but I wish the pegs were a 1/2" or more longer.
