This cedar bracket is beautifully made with totally clear wood and long screws that hold it together. I was impressed with the quality and even my architect thought it was the best he'd seen. That being said, it is very simple, not to heavy but very solid. I'm using it to help support a bump out I'm building onto my bedroom. I'm going to water proof it and may end up painting it, but natural or painted it will look great.

I really like this piece. I have to admit, though, that while I read the dimensions when selecting it, I didn't get put a tape measute. That is, this bracket is pretty big. Also, it's not exactly smooth. It has a rough quality. I do like it, though. We've been redoing an extra bedroom as a tv den, with a lit of dark wood paneling and a dark wooden ceiling fan. We're planning to stain this piece dark, like red mahogany, and to use it for a hanging fan in that room I like this item.

I picked this for review because I am always making shelves, or hanging signs outdoors. Since you need TWO brackets to make a shelf, you would have to order another one to finish a shelving job. After inspecting this bracket, I can see this would be PERFECT for someone who wants to put a new mantle over their fireplace. Well worth the price. This is a super heavy duty sized bracket and it looks elegant. It also weighs a ton. It is well made and cut perfectly. The raw wood is ready to be stained, refinished, or just oiled with cedar oil, or you can leave it as is, to retain that pleasant cedar smell. You are not going to anchor this to a sheet rock wall, so don't waste your time. It needs a 4x4 stud, or stone wall to be securely anchored to. This is a bracket for a seriously heavy job. It's strong enough to hang a cast iron plaque with chain, or hold a nice, thick, slice of natural wood for a mantle. Very fine craftsmanship on this piece.
