CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 3.6 out of 5 by 17 reviewers.
Rated 4 out of 5 by Microwave is very attractive and has high quality construction at a very competetive price. Generally a superb high quality microwave; easy to install, very attractive, very even microwave cooking, quiet and, for the features, very competitive price. A few relatively minor shortcomings. Some automatic functions are not well conceived - like melt/soften butter which thoroughly reduces it to a liquid state rather than softening. And one irritating design implementation - the under unit light which illuminates the counter area creates so much heat (when on High) in the microwave that things that are left in it (when not running) will actually get quite warm to the touch. Rated 1 out of 5 by Unreliable, Poor Controls, Poor Performance, Overpriced This unit looks nice, inside and out, but that's about the only good thing about it. I know it's made in China, but I didn't expect it to die after only 4 months of light use (2-3 x weekly to heat up frozen meals and leftovers) One morning I noticed the clock on the door panel had quit for no apparent reason. The interior light was still working but the touch pad on the door was totally dead, and the microwave itself would not work either. Still under factory warranty so called for repair. The repair technician arrived promptly and replaced the main control panel but that didn't fix it. He told me that the door controls had gone bad for no apparent reason, and the entire door would have to be replaced. He also told me that other microwaves by this manufacturer w/ door mounted control pads had similar issues. When this unit was working, I found the controls to be awkward, esp the light and fan switches, and the exhaust fan was excessively noisy. Also, the convection mode is very weak and ineffective so it is not even useful. My $59 counter top GE convection toaster oven does a far better job when it comes to convection, so don't bother buying this microwave for the convection feature. It has been nearly 3 weeks since the replacement door was ordered, but at last check the manufacturer did not have one on hand and it was back ordered, with not even a ballpark estimate of delivery date. To put things in perspective, my first microwave was a Made in Japan Quasar/Panasonic counter top unit I bought in 1986, which is still working great after nearly 30 yrs. May 16, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by One of the nicest looking convection /microwaves… If you are warming foods, or popping corn then 5-stars, but beware convection shoppers. We were thrilled to find a convection oven that could possibly replace our former unit, and cook homemade pizza for the family in short order. My wife has a killer pizza recipe that trumps any pizzeria in town. Yes, we still (ON SPECIAL OCCASIONS) enjoy loading the entire family into our van and heading off to the local restaurant. It’s always fun to go out, and keeps our California home cooler in the middle of the summer. As it turned out, it takes TWICE the amount of time to cook nearly everything, and the technical reasons were not initially clear. In addition, after 8-months of owning this Electrolux, both of the tiny 40w Cooktop lights or “night lights” blew out. We have come to find online that the replacement bulbs are between $30-$46 apiece, or x2 for $60-$92 with no substitutions. Electrolux did offer “as a courtesy” to replace them (nice), but there is little comfort knowing that MAYBE another replacement is just 8-months away! Back to the cooking time. Twice Electrolux sent a repair technician and the temperature barely reached the manufacturers specifications of 450 degrees, actually only 300 degrees. The technician said “It’s only a microwave,” or in other words cooking pizzas are meant for real ovens. Got it, thanks for the technical help. Our disappointment was clearly not going away, so more research followed and we finally got the answers we were seeking. Our former model worked up until the day (8-years) we threw it out. The plastic design was cracking everywhere. Playing by the rules, I’m not allowed (here) to say what brand (I think), but I will give you enough guidance to help avoid making the same mistake. According to Electrolux, this model is the highest rated wattage “1500,” and something we knew upon purchase. We checked, and rechecked even though for some reason Home Depot indicates “1000” watts. Our old microwave was 1475 watts total (almost equal). In convection mode there was a split, 1100 watts cooking from above, and a 375 watt ceramic heater that cooked food from below. Mystery solved :--) Once you have experienced cooking ANYTHING with 1100 watts above and 375 watts below, you will NEVER feel the same about 1500 watts above as in this Electrolux. With the Electrolux in convection mode we often see most foods unevenly cooked, and relatively speaking, taking twice as long. The double-decker rack is even worse, and for obvious reasons. For us, we never attempting to replace the over (despite pictures of roasts being cooked), but we simply know exactly what a REAL convention microwave can do. As pretty as this Electrolux is, I cannot wait to see the day when we can justify the replacement with a REAL performing convection microwave. July 9, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Better than I hoped for! The features and versatility of this microwave are fantastic! The convection oven works as well if not better than my Electrolux oven (and I didn't think that was possible). I used it to make brownies, pumpkin pie and cook a roast. All came out perfect. The microwave is the best I have ever used. I couldn't be more pleased. There is enough room in this to cook an entire meal at one time. October 20, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Microwave Purchase and Install Easy to install, product performs wonderfully. Previous microwave same model, only lasted 5 years before needing repair work. Cost more to repair than purchase new model. June 17, 2014
