Yes , there is twin Halogen lights with low and high settings. Yes, unit can be vented to outside but recommend using indoor recirculation with charcoal filer which is included and replaceable

How does one use the convection part of this microwave?

I bought this and there are NO instructions in the owner's manual on how to use the convection mode. Do you take out both the glass and plastic turntable or leave them in? Can you use the round metal shelves with convection or the rectangular shelf? How to do set the temp and time? Any info. greatly apprreciated as Electrolux was no help as they didn't know either. They need to rewrite their manual in my opinion and give some examples of convection cooking. After all, isn't this one of the major features? Please post here with any information on how to cook convection. Thanks!
Asked by: Anonymous
You should be able to go to the Electrolux / Frigidare website and print off a copy of owners manual. The circular racks can and should be used during convection cooking but not during the microwave cooking. Not required but I recommend removing the glass tray and turntable. Convection temp and time set using the scroll feature.

is there a kit I need to purchase and if so, which one so that I can install above my stovetop with a 36 inch opening

Asked by: scotth
Comes with a mounting bracket but unit is designed for use above a 30 inch range/ cook top. You will have ribbed sides, not smooth surface exposed over a 36 inch range.

Customer Reviews

30 in. W 1.8 cu. ft. Over the Range Convection Microwave in Stainless Steel with Sensor Cooking is rated 3.8 out of 5 by 250.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Performance and Great Value We bought this microwave convection over about a month ago to replace the previous model which was nearly 8 years old. This newer version has a better exhaust fan, more even cooking, brighter work light, easier and more user-friendly controls and the bonus of a convection oven without adding much to the total cost.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fit perfectly in vacant space Installed over a month ago just in time for the summer visitors. We went without a microwave for 3 months but with 4 extra people in the house, it's usefulness was definitely noted. We bought a house without a microwave and it was nerve racking looking at units trying to determine if the empty space above the stove top would be adequate. Glad most units are the same size and haven't changed in years.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect replacement We bought our home in March and the microwave was one of the disappointing things, but we replaced it with this NW Electrolux and we're very happy. It matches the oven and has much better controls and space.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It's pretty good One of the reasons we purchased this microwave is because the style fit with the design/style in our kitchen. We are happy with the look. I like the features that it offers although I have never been a big fan of convection ovenS and I am still not crazy about them. My husband likes it though. The sensor works well and food is usually at the right temp when using the microwave feature. This oven is a little louder than my last one but that could be because the interior is roomer so less sound insulation. All in all a good buy. My husband also likes the scrolling directions...they allow him to easily use more features.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great. Nice looking Bought it in December and am happy with the microwave but haven't tried the convection oven.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Microwave good, connection questionable I bought this a month ago and only used a few features. The microwave is big and heavy. Definitely need two people to install. Microwave hearts well on full power and it doesn't seem the power levels work right. I'll heat something on Less power and takes significantly longer to heat. Different from my old ge. Convection takes really long to warm up for such a small space. I cooked a meatloaf with convection and took longer than my oven would by 10-15 minutes. Touch panel seems to be fine for now as other reviews state they fail after a year. I haven't used the preset features for cooking, we usually don't cook with microwave but wife wanted convection. Not many options out there for convection.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy access to control panel -great illumination In addition to the fact that this looks great, one of the features we love the most about this model is the easy access to the controls panel. Our kids love this. The light inside and below the microwave provide great illumination. Although we haven't tried the convection oven features yet, this will become very handy for Thanksgiving Christmas dinner preparation.
