Another trick that works well is I will do a load of whites first, adding a little bleach. After I've done all of my colors, I will do another small load of whites, again with some bleach. The bleach keeps the washer mold free until you're ready to do more laundry. Works really well... Read Less

If you simply close the door and walk away after the wash, it will eventually allow mildew and odor -- and you will not be happy.

Hi Dot,
Wash cycle time varies based on the cycle chosen and the load size. In addition the cycle will be longer if the steam option is selected.
Expect a 60-90 minute cycle on average. Add an additional 20 minutes if the steam option is selected.

Answer:
IT would appear so since one would have a tendency to slam it closed when it doesn't latch the first time. However, it might be magnetic so gently closing the door to engage the magnet would be okay because once the machine starts the door is very secure.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Very disappointed Purchased both the washer and dryer. We have owned it for 2 months and the dryer motor just died. Two repairmen later they now say the motor needs to be replaced. Tried to exchange it but Home Depot states it has to break four times before they will exchange. Waiting on Electrolux's response. July 26, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by So far so good We purchased the Electrolux IQ-Touch washer/dryer combo with pedestals because the pedestals were on sale for just $100 each (as opposed to other brands that cost $300 each). It was installed by HD without a hitch in our second home, so we haven't had much of an opportunity to use them. My husband did use the machines a couple of times when he was at the house and loved it! Clothes came out really clean and the blue lights provided a nice bit of light in our hallway laundry nook. The dryer is a little loud, but not too bad considering it is located in the hallway and we have tile floors. Purchased the extended warranty just in case of future problems. August 11, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Money well spent Ok.. So I read other reviews and shook my head and had to put up my own.. I've had my washer and dryer for 4 and a half years now.. 1. The door was extremely simple to reverse the swing on.. Perhaps you're mechanically challenged and should maybe hire a handyman to do the simplest tasks for you 2. I've never (knock wood) had any leakage from anywhere 3. The capacity is incredible!! I've stuffed the machine as full as I could get it and never had any issues.. The thing spins the clothes so fast, even loaded down, that clothes are STUCK to the top of the drum!!! Bottom line- after 4 and a half years I have absolutely no complaints.. My clothes come out amazingly clean.. And practically dry before they go into the dryer because the thing spins them so fast.. My kids love how their clothes feel and smell when I wash them.. Not so much when their mother does them at her house ;) get these- you'll thank me. June 4, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Door swing isn't easy to reverse We purchased this washer and the matching dryer because we were told that the door swing was reversible on both machines. Apparently, it's not as easy as we'd hoped. We won't bore you with the details here, but be sure to ask about this when you order these appliances. In our area, there was some confusion about who was actually responsible for reversing the door swing: the manufacturer, the retailer, or the delivery company. In the end, it wasn't done by any of them, but we're okay with that. They're great appliances and we can live the doors as they are. March 29, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Slightly pricey but hopefully worth it. Takes the laundry from the whole family in one run. Easy to use. The big door makes it easy to get things in and out of the machine. Remember to leave the door open when not using the machine, otherwise it will start smelling bad. The door can be hinged on either side to fit the installation. If you have both the dryer and washer, make sure the doors opens away from the center. That makes it super easy to get things from the washer to the dryer. May 17, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Second one returned It's been three weeks and still no working washer. This is the second one. First one had all sorts of errors and the soap dispenser would not open. Second one works except the soap dispenser would not open. I've returned the products because Home Depot cannot service them in a timely manner and two new products should not have the same problem. I've decided to go with an appliance store where at least I can get service on my products. January 25, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Disappointing! Loved this washer for the first 3 months, but then noticed water had leaked from laundry room into hallway. Waited 4 days for the repairman arranged by Electrolux under the warranty. He said a defective pulley caused a belt to break and that created a hole in the drum, which leaked water all over the laundry room and hall. It has been 11 days since the leak and we are now being told it will be another week or two for the repair. Major inconvenience and underwhelming response from Electrolux to repair a 3 month old washing machine. Very disappointed all the way around! October 22, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works great. Nice and quiet, ours is upstairs but vibration noise is minimal even on spin cycles. A major improvement. More than we need for sure, clothes all come out smelling and looking great. October 16, 2012
