Can these be modified?

I am thinking of using these for a porch swing. Can I bend those inside flanges flat, and then place a 4x6 or 6x6 between them and bolt it together?
Asked by: howkensea
I would not.

Does the stand count towards the 1000lb capacity? Or is it the weight that rest on top of the platform?

Asked by: Star
That is for the brackets as any manufacturer cannot determine what material and weight limit the materials that you use other than theirs would be.

What size and type of bolt do you recommend using in both the 4X4's and floor?

Asked by: ET
What I did was take one bracket to the store and fit the bolt or lug through the hole so I know they fit properly, not too tight as the threads will strip and not too loose. Galvanized fasteners are best for the long haul. The length is determined by the thickness of lumber, for the 4x4 screws chose 2.5"-3" because you need at least 4 all the way around each bracket. For decking and studs I use a combination of galvanized nails and decking screws.

My build is a deer watch completed in October 2016 using a set of Elevator brackets, pressure treated lumber, galvanized nails, deck screws, lug bolts, lug screws, nuts & washers, tools used: 20v drill and driver, hammer, hand saw, miter saw, circular saw, tape measure, carpenters square, work gloves, rachet straps, chain, shovel, pruners and a pencil. Ok now the build, I did part prefab, the rest was built on site by myself. Legs were 8'in the front and 7.6' in the back because of ground slope, platform 5'x40". All went very well, very stable, but next build will be bigger, already ordered 3 more Elevator sets including straight brackets to incorporate a deck/porch. View my build pics, my first with Elevator brackets, this is the way to go. My view is also amazing!

Solves the problem of figuring how to mount legs on elevated projects at dual angles. The brackets are heavy and well build. A little pricey but speeds up assembly time. I personally feel the cost is a trade off for time saved. I would buy them again if the need arises. Home Depot has the best price that I found since they shipped to the store I did not have to pay shipping as was the case with all other dealers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hunt Club stands Easy to use, makes the assembly and construction of both free standing tower stands and ladder stands easier, and in the end much safer than stick built stands. Be sure to anchor- (over anchor) you stands, if exposed to direct winds.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very rugged I am pleased with the quality of this product, the only downside is the pocket is slightly larger than a store bought 4X4 so a couple of shims are required for rack pocket.
