Our kitchen sink/faucet came with three holes, but we are only using two, one for the faucet and one for the dishwashing soap. We couldn't decide what to do with the third, so until we do, we needed to cover it so water is unable to drip down into the cabinet below.
This kitchen sink hole cover couldn't be more perfect. It is working great and looks great, with a nice stainless steel that matches our sink.
Normally I would put plumber’s putty under it, but I had a thin rubber gasket for it. Installation was about as easy as it gets — just push it through the hole.

After only a few weeks installation of a new kitchen the tenant reported the stainless steel sink rusting. When reviewing pictures it appears it's due to the hole plug. Now I have to pay a contractor to replace a ttwo dollar item

Gets the job done, but as others have noted will show rust spots if allowed to stay wet. Rust spots should come off pretty easily with a low-abrasive metal cleaner (try the new liquid Barkeepers Friend) if you don't let them get too rusty. The metal is very magnetic, thus is low quality stainless steel. But I don't see others of this size available at anywhere near this price that will just snap in. At three bucks apiece I'm fine with replacing them periodically. Appearance is polished stainless, shinier than a typical brushed stainless sink, but maybe not quite as shiny as chrome. Looks OK to my eyes but doesn't "fade into the background". H.D. carries these (Elkay brand) in their stores, hanging near the kitchen sink displays. This item fits perfectly (snaps in easily with nice tight fit) in the Glacier Bay SM1071 sink. But be aware that faucet hole size can vary between sink manufacturers.

Got sink and hole cover from the Depot. Hole was 1-1/2" and cover was 1-3/8". Depot does not list the bolt-type cover that spans a variety of hole sizes.

This item will rust significantly in just a few months and is not what I would consider stainless steel considering the speed at which it rusted. This is the typical inferior metal, coming from cheap manufacturers, that is found in stores today. I returned the item for a refund.
