I've used a number of different wood fillers on a number of different projects. This one works well, not GREAT. Has a descent, smooth consistency. Cures fairly quickly allowing me to sand the part later in the day. Minimal shrinkage. Bonds well. I'd use this product again. I have not tested this for ability to stain but it does a fair job of matching my oak lumber as-is.

Ease of use thanks to the tip nozzle filled gaps in easy stained easy and took the shade of the rest of the wood didn't darken up like most other fillers

I like this because it has a screw-on top so that the product doesn't dry out, wasting money. It worked for the small holes I had to fill in some wood projects. I also liked the size because I didn't waste money or storage.

The interior of our home has a lot of naturally finished wood paneling and as we've prepped exterior lumber for painting and staining, we've normally used the larger tubs of Elmer's wood putty. Unfortunately, we often end up throwing away about half the tub as it dries out and hardens before we're done with it. We just trimmed a window and needed some wood filler to hide the nail holes that I'd countersunk with a punch. I really like this "wood filler in a tube" concept as the squeeze tube makes it very easy to get the filler into the area being filled very accurately. I found there was less waste, less to sand off once it has hardened and less of the wood filler ended up on the floor too. It took a stain very well, although I had a medium stain on the paneling and had to apply two coats of stain to get the right shade. And at the price, even if this hardens before we use the rest of it and we have to throw it away, its not the end of the world!

I used this product to fill in the void under a door strike plate, and it did not work well. Even after kneading the tube per the instructions, the product came out somewhat dry, and once it set, it was not at all strong. When I drilled holes and drove screws into the material, it just chipped and flaked off. I wish I could recommend an alternative product, but I would definitely steer buyers away from this one.
