Answer:
Yes these Glowing Embers would really add a nice effect to real wood-burning fires. Although there may be a down side... The Embers last basically forever. After several "real" fires, they will get mixed in with the "real" ashes and may make it difficult to clean without accidentally discarding the Glowing Embers. Just something to consider depending on how often you clean out your fireplace.

Can fireglass be used with these gas logs?

I can't decide between doing a fireglass installation (trendy) or using realistic ceramic logs (classic look). Is it possible to put fireglass in the pan below the logs, and/or remove the logs entirely and cover the burner and pan in fireglass, if I choose to do that sometime later?

Answer:
It has not been tested with fireglass therefore the manufacturer can't recommend or approve for such.

Hi sfoana.
Thank you for your great question.
Yes, you can use the fire glass at the base of your ceramic logs but it may give you an incoherent appearance and not the modern look you are searching for.
Try it out. The nice part about the glass is that it can be removed if you decide it is not the “look” for you.
Please let us know if we can be of further assistance.

Answer:
You should have a pan or depressed area under the propane burner. Take thee glowing embers out of the bag and distribute them to fill the area up to the level of the burner.

Answer:
Once the burner pan is installed, you spread the shale (small rocks) over the burner pan and burner bar. The glowing embers are then spread over the shale. Break them apart into small pieces for best results and cover the entire burner pan. You can move around and play with the embers to get the flame you desire.

Although it is difficult to tell from the photo, they glow brightly and help to make the gas logs look natural. I would recommend getting two bags for a standard set of gas logs because one likely won't be enough. However, I wouldn't get three bags as two will be more than enough. To get the embers to glow more brightly, be sure that there is enough air space between them.

I did not notice that in the description of the product at the time of purchase. The embers came with no instructions. When I looked up the instructions online, I learned that they are not to be used with the vent-free logs as they might interfere with the proper distribution of the flames. It is clearly stated on the product page that it is for vented logs, but I somehow missed that.
