Answer:
Yes these Glowing Embers would really add a nice effect to real wood-burning fires. Although there may be a down side... The Embers last basically forever. After several "real" fires, they will get mixed in with the "real" ashes and may make it difficult to clean without accidentally discarding the Glowing Embers. Just something to consider depending on how often you clean out your fireplace.

Can fireglass be used with these gas logs?

I can't decide between doing a fireglass installation (trendy) or using realistic ceramic logs (classic look). Is it possible to put fireglass in the pan below the logs, and/or remove the logs entirely and cover the burner and pan in fireglass, if I choose to do that sometime later?

Answer:
It has not been tested with fireglass therefore the manufacturer can't recommend or approve for such.

Hi sfoana.
Thank you for your great question.
Yes, you can use the fire glass at the base of your ceramic logs but it may give you an incoherent appearance and not the modern look you are searching for.
Try it out. The nice part about the glass is that it can be removed if you decide it is not the “look” for you.
Please let us know if we can be of further assistance.

Answer:
You should have a pan or depressed area under the propane burner. Take thee glowing embers out of the bag and distribute them to fill the area up to the level of the burner.

Answer:
Once the burner pan is installed, you spread the shale (small rocks) over the burner pan and burner bar. The glowing embers are then spread over the shale. Break them apart into small pieces for best results and cover the entire burner pan. You can move around and play with the embers to get the flame you desire.

Rated 4.2 out of 5 by 38 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful These don't look like much in the bag, but once the fireplace is lit, they certainly come to life and look beautiful. One bag is enough for one fireplace. They really add a lot of warmth and glow, beauty and life to the fireplace which would otherwise look very dull. Highly recommend! December 1, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good product The embers were easy to install and brilliantly glowed when the fireplace was ignited. A product that worked as advertised. Delivery was on time. May 10, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Fireplace Renovation Due to unforeseen circumstances had someone vacuum the originals out of my fireplace thinking they were ashes and them threw out the vacuum bag all on trash day!! Did an internet search in all the regular places and was not initially finding this product. I only found lava rocks and crystals which were not compatible with my propane fire place. Checked with the Home Depot site and found this product which is similar to what was in the fireplace when originally installed. The bag size was a little small for the area I needed to cover but well worth the price. Got what I needed and the fireplace is now up and running again with the warm glow as intended. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Realistic Amazing how these embers add a realistic look to your gas log fire. March 22, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by glowing embers very pretty and real looking unit This was cheaper to buy a new unit instead of repairing a accessing one. April 5, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best Fire Ever The embers make the fire look even more beautiful and natural when you're using artificial logs. Combine them with the logs from Home Depot for the perfect looking fire. I bought the embers and the logs for the fireplace at my rental property and the tenant was so happy with the look of the fire that she wanted to share it with me and sent me a photo. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Disappointed I was VERY disappointed to receive this product. It's great but you'd have to buy about 20 bags to cover the bottom of your fireplace. What you get is such a small amount, the picture is very deceiving. March 15, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Worked for us The bag of embers didn't come with instructions or warnings, which was weird, but we just spread it around the logs. It makes the gas fireplace look more realistic. February 16, 2016
