I have had my logs approximately five years. This year the long aluminum tube that lights up in front of the logs does not light all the way with the pilot light. I have to use a small butane flame starter to make sure it lights the whole way across in front of the logs. What needs to be done to correct this? Thanks , Harvey

Answer:
Sounds like you may have some dust particles blocking the gas tube. Suggest using a vacuum or can of compressed air to clear out those holes throughout the burner tube. If that doesn't work, you may try the main air intake next to the main valve. customer Service could walk you through it if you need assistance (800-229-5647).

Answer:
It comes with everything needed for a standard installation but some customers choose to buy a different supply line. It's a good idea to purchase model EVFIK (Vent Free Installation Kit) and return if not needed.

Answer:
Unfortunately...no. This unit comes with a thermostatic valve and cannot be converted. You may want to look at the SCVFR24 model that comes with a built-in remote control.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Logs - Great logs, just note that they ship from the factory configured for propane use. If you're using with Natural Gas be sure to look at the instructions to make sure you correctly; 1) Adjust vent for NG 2) Correctly adjust set screw 3) Push in selector plate and turn for NG setting (This unit ships with two pilot lights, one configured for propane, the other for NG - when configured for NG you will see some combustion coming from the propane pilot) Also make sure that you cut and move the thermostat that is zip tied to the bottom of the unit, otherwise it will turn down back to the pilot greatly confusing you. . . . Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Won't stay lit - First one came broken and after paying our handy man to be here and install it, I had to return it for another one at Home Depot. This one does not work well - it only stays on for about 5-10 minutes before shutting off. Also, the gas noise is very loud. Waste of money - will have to replace. January 17, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Well worth it Was easy to assemble and works as expected. Heats up a living room 27'x18' with 16' ceilings pretty quickly. Built in thermostat is a plus and the wife loves the fact it has a built in igniter. February 3, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great once the odor is gone. Logs work great overall. The odor lasted for about the first 6 hours or so. Finally opened the flu and let them burn on high for awhile and the odor slowly went away. The control knob could be designed a little better but I found almost all logs around this price range have the same or similar chassis and control knob. Don't forget to move the thermostat bulb outside of the fire box. It is wire tied under the chassis. For the money, not a bad set and heats great. February 27, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Bad Product The fireplace didn't work properly. The settings on the gas control valve did not work from setting 1-3. It turned at the 4th setting. When turning the fireplace off, as soon as you passed setting #4. The logs do not look like the picture of the unit. The consumer hotline was had no idea what was wrong with the unit and didn't offer helpful suggestions. The unit should be set up for natural gas and not propane. This detail was not clear on the unit. Under no circumstances will I keep this unit and I wouldn't recommend purchasing the item! December 4, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice, but needs a tweak to work well Two keys for successful use of this log: position the logs so the flames don't touch them constantly. This eliminates the ongoing burning smell. Also, if you experience the log and pilot going out after a short time, check to see if the overtemp switch on the back has tripped. Mine wouldn't stay lit more than 10 minutes, so I jumpered the three wires together at the overtemp switch and now it strictly uses the thermostat to control when it's on and off. Perfect! Now it automatically heats half my house cheaper than the electric heat can. Why they would put a 250 degree overtemp switch 1 inch from a gas log burner tube I won't understand. December 27, 2011
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Thanks for helping me look so good I'm always leary of ordering anything online. But I wanted this gas burning log set, so with the help of a Home Depot employee I order the set. A short delay in delivery and I had my new logs. I was afraid that they would come broken or without easy read instructions....boy was I wrong. Everything was in good shape and the instructions, well let's just say that I was burning my fireplace in no time at all. Thanks Home Depot for making me look good. January 6, 2015
