Answer:
This particular unit (model SCVFR24L) is only for LP (liquid propane). You want to order model SCVFR24N which is specific to NG (natural gas).

Answer:
It has something to do with the pressure exerted from the tank. If you tried to use this set with a 20lb LP tank (the size normally associated with gas grills), the set would work fine until the tank was about half empty, then the pressure would not be enough to keep the log set running...even though there is still gas in the tank.

Answer:
"screeching" Is not a common complaint, however, if it sounds similar to a whistling/blowtorch noise, this is the result of two different things. 1. Flex lines 2. high pressure. These units have a 1/2 to 3/8 reduction from your gas line to the unit which increases pressure at that point in the line, combine this with a ridged flex line and the result can be a noise. Hello Kelly,
Typically this indicates one of two things, #1 the unit has failed at synchronization/ synchronization didn't take. Or, the batteries are bad in the receiver box/ remote handheld, or the batteries were not inserted into one of the two devices. Please follow the step by step troubleshooting and sync. guide below and this should correct your problem. If not, please contact customer service for further instructions at 1-800-229-5647.
SYNCING THE REMOTE AND RECEIVER
MAKE SURE YOU FOLLOW STEPS EXACTLY OR IT WON’T WORK
1. YOU WILL NEED TO MAKE SURE EVERYTHING IS IN THE "OFF" POSITION
(RECIEVER SWITCH AND KNOB)
2. PLACE OR REPLACE BATTERIES IN RECIEVER BOX AND REMOTE, BATTERIES GO UNDER THE SWITCH PLATE AND BATTERY DOOR.
3. ONCE BATTERIES ARE IN THE RECIEVER BOX AND THE BATTERY DOOR IS PLACED
ON YOU WILL RECIEVE ONE BEEP.
**RUN YOUR FINGER AROUND THE EDGE TO ENSURE THE BATTERY DOOR IS FLUSH WITH THE RECEIVER BOX
(IF YOU DO NOT RECIEVE A BEEP FROM THE RECIEVER, IT IS EITHER DAMAGED OR
THE WIRES ARE LOOSE)
4. INSTALL THE RECEIVER SWITCH PLATE BY LINNIG UP THE NOTCH IN THE BACK OF THE SWITCH WITH THE PLASTIC SWITCH STICKING OUT OF THE RECIEVER ABOVE THE “- + - +” IF LATCHED CORRECTLY, WHEN SLIDING YOU WILL HEAR IT CLICK, IF INCORRECTLY IT WILL FREELY SLIDE FROM LEFT TO RIGHT. THEN SCREW THE PLATE ON RECEIVER.
5. CHANGE THE SWITCH ON THE RECIEVER TO THE "ON" POSITION
6. TURN THE KNOB TO “PILOT” POSITION
7. YOU WILL THEN LIGHT YOUR UNIT MANUALLY BY DEPRESSING ON THE KNOB IN THE PILOT POSITION HOLDING THE KNOB IN WHILE PUSHING THE PIEZO IGNITOR BUTTON ON THE SIDE OF THE UNIT TO LIGHT THE PILOT
8. ONCE THE PILOT IS LIT THEN TURN YOUR KNOB TO THE ON POSITION AND THE RECEIVER SWITCH TO THE REMOTE POSITION
**WAIT A FEW MOMENTS TO ALLOW THE THERMOCOUPLE TO HEAT, THE BURNERS WILL THEN LIGHT
9. THEN PUSH AND HOLD THE BUTTON ON THE REMOTE UNTIL YOU HEAR THREE BEEPS AND THEN LET GO OF THE BUTTON
10. PUSH ON THE BUTTON ONCE AND LET GO YOU SHOULD SEE THE FLAMES FROM THE BURNERS WILL DIE OUT, PUSH ON THE BUTTON ONCE MORE AND THE FLAMES WILL TURN ON AGAIN
11. ONCE YOU HAVE COMPLETED THESE STEPS YOUR REMOTE AND RECIEVER SHOULD NOW BE CORRESPONDING TO EACH OTHER.
IF YOU CONTINUE TO HAVE ISSUES YOU MAY HAVE A DAMAGED RECIEVER OR REMOTE. CONTACT US TO PLACE AN ORDER FOR A REPLACEMENT.
*If you get 1 beep from receiver and no beeps from the remote, your remote needs to be replaced.
If you don’t get the one beep from the receiver box, you’ll need to replace your receiver box.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by SAVANNAH OAK 24 IN. VENT-FREE PROPANE GAS FIREPLACE LOGS WITH REMOTE Just had the OAK 24 IN. VENT-FREE PROPANE GAS FIREPLACE LOGS WITH REMOTE installed by the gas company because it was cheaper and easier to have them do it. The gas company did all the work and only had to change on flexible hose for a longer one in order to put a shut off valve. Having a 100 lb propane tank permanently placed outside the house in the back yard was better and easier for me than having to exchange the tank every time it needed to be filled or just to take it to get filled. I call the gas company when the tank is at 20 percent and they show up and fill it up. Fireplace heats up my large living room quickly and warm air moves to the other rooms fast as well. Remote is a good investment especially if you are much older. Easier on you knees and back to start the fireplace, just press a button from your couch. Price was good compared to other online stores. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice logs These were perfect for what my mom needed them for. So far everything works as advertised and they look nice in her fireplace. March 8, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best deal going! After reading the reviews I was a bit worried about having broken logs from shipping damage. I was very pleased when I opened the box and everything was neatly packed in foam rubber and in perfect condition. Installation was very straightforward and went very well as I installed them myself. My room is a lot warmer now and the fire looks very good. I looked for a couple of weeks before I made this purchase and most of the dealers and fireplace shops were pricing vent free gas logs from $700.00 to $1200.00 and I like these logs as much or better than those and when you consider the pricing there is no brainier. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great fireplace! A wonderful unit for a great price.Well made.I got this for decorative in existing fireplace, or for heat backup.Works great with manual push button ignite-start and the remote. Logs are better than other sets I have had. Flames look fine.I am running on LP. Make sure to get the extra installation kit with the stainless flex hose in case you need it. Gas brass fittings from this package or HD will connect everything.Extra gas ball shutoff can have a safety gas flow excess valve in it. February 7, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very good value We visited a number of gaslog dealers before deciding to try this set. We picked this set because the price was so much lower than other sets we had seen at the dealers. Upon receiving the logs, we were very happy with our choice. The logs are not as realistic as the sets that go for $1000+, but they still give a nice effect and are exactly as pictured on the web site. These were a great value at $329. The unit gives off a lot of heat as advertised and expected. Two of the logs were damaged (cracked) upon arrival but fortunately they were not bottom logs upon which other logs are placed. We called the manufacturer directly and received brand new logs within a week with no hassles whatsoever. If you are looking for decent-looking logs and are trying to avoid expensive sets, I think you will he happy with these. Be aware: it is really important that the logs are placed as illustrated, otherwise they will soot (leave thick black markings on the log and give off an odor). Also, the logs have a bit of a smell for the first few uses; we were able to burn a candle to mitigate the smell. Eventually the smell will dissipate. January 19, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by What a let down!! The logs looked great and installed easy, but the remote never worked and when I started the logs the electrical wire underneath the logs caught fire. Very poor workmanship on the whole bottom portion of the logs which was the main part. January 19, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works as advertised. It was for Safety Reasons that I bought a new Unvented Gas Log Set. Mainly because my old one was 15 years old and was setting off the Carbon Monoxide detector in my home. I've used it daily for 60 days now (November-December) Seems like a good purchase, the remote control is a nice feature and it has a safety switch on it. January 12, 2016
