It sounds like you may need model RVS-304. Search for that model #. It is a safety pilot kit with included on/off remote control.

Answer:
Normally a 42" firebox would have just that...a 42" wide opening. It's odd that it only has a 30" opening. If the actual front opening width is 30", this unit would not fit. You would need a minimum of 32" for it to vent properly. You may want to consider the SCVFR24 which is the 24" model.

Rated 2.9 out of 5 by 9 reviewers.
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Company reselling returns in poor condition. Arrived with a broken log. The company agreed to replace, but three weeks out and still waiting for the replacement part to show. The box had been opened and had a dirty pair of work gloves inside as if the box had been opened and was a return. I would have never paid full price had I known it would arrive in this condition. Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Problematic The largest log was defective. The remote worked one and on the second time the remote did not work. February 10, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Gas logs Great product . It arrived in good shape everything works great. January 12, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by The large log was cracked in the middle , but not very noticable when installed . We like the product though . It was a simple installation that anyone could do with minimal skills and tools . January 22, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Not pleased Just had it installed on 12-1-15. Very cheap looking and doesn't fill up our see thru fireplace. We did not know it was going to have all the mechanicals on the backside rendering it visible from the other side of the fireplace. Worked one day and wouldn't ignite the next. Having propane company installers come back out to look at it. May return it. December 8, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Less than perfect We really love the look of the logs and they do put out a lot of heat. But the remote control does not work and the longest log and a smaller one was broken when received. With that being said we returned them and reorder the same ones hoping for better results. I do think there is a problem with the way the batteries had to be inserted into the logs for the remote to work, you have to take the logs off and unhook them from the gas supply to get to where they go. Once you take the cover off it is hard to get it lined back up and this I think is why the remote does not work as it should. December 10, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by one click fire No need to rub two sticks together, just push the button and my fireplace comes on. We're using it to help heat the house, but I have not been able to adjust the high and low settings. March 26, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Do not recommend Had these installed by gas company. Only used them a couple of hours at night for a week and used 25 gals. of gas and did not heat the room well at all. Had the gas company back out to check every thing, an he said that no way should have used this much gas.Rechecked for leaks and all was good. I am taking these logs back to the store.( oh! 2 logs were broken when delivered) January 3, 2015
