Answer:
It's supposed to maintain the schedule that's active if the wi-fi connection is lost, and believe me, the wi-fi connection on mine drops out a lot. But my schedule still functions without the wi-fi. The schedule can't be revised without the wi-fi connection. The wi-fi connection on mine drops out every few monts and I have to delete the thermostat in the app and reinstall it. A real pain.

Answer:
I have to disagree, as my new thermostat has lost its internet connection literally as we speak. It is set to 70 degrees but the actual temperature inside my house is 62 degrees, and the furnace will not turn on. It's even set to "on" instead of "auto". Nothing's wrong with my furnace...just this thermostat. Brr!

It does not rely on the internet for it to function. It functions normally as if you did not even have a wifi-capable thermostat. The only part about not having an internet connection is that you will lose the capability of controlling it wirelessly. So if the internet goes out for a few days you will not lose any functionality. Hope that answers your question? Read Less

He means, can you use batteries to power it, or do you have to use a power wire. Obviously you have to use the existing wires to control the AC, but not everyone has a power wire. I'd like to know the answer for this too.

Answer:
Hello,
The Sensi is not a wireless thermostat. It does require wires between the thermostat and your system in order to operate your system properly. Please email Sensi Technical Support at support@sensicomfort.com if you have questions about your specific system compatibility. Thanks, and have a great day!

Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 218 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by SENSI WI-FI PROGRAMMABLE THERMOSTAT Simple installation, download the Sensi App and follow the step-by-step instructions. Had trouble the first week with maintaining the Wi-Fi signal, but much better since then. The Auto feature is great, no more manually switching back and forth between Heating and Cooling modes. No C-wire required, separates it from most others. October 12, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Upgraded old Thermostat This is a good buy if your looking for WI-FI capabilities at a low price. Installation was a breeze without the need for a C-wire that some of the higher priced models require. The local weather information on the App could be a little nicer but that's what the weather channels for. Overall it does what I need it to do. August 23, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Easy This is my first wifi-enabled thermostat and I looked at the reviews on this website. After all, I chose this one and it works as people wrote in the reviews. Very satisfied!!! August 23, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A+ unit Very easy to install. Their app shows you how to configure your specific unit. I Have had it up and running in my vacation home now for 4 months with no problems at all. Also lets you know your unit is running when the screen is Blue while in the app. Great feature. September 12, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great investment We probably recovered the cost of installing this thermostat when renters checked out of our beach condo last week--and left the a/c set on 60! We were able to adjust the temperature remotely and prevent damage to the unit before the cleaning crew would ever have found it. If there is a sudden drop in temp, we can remotely change it from a/c to heat and prevent plumbing damage. It was easy to install and is one of the few which doesn't require a C-wire. October 19, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Spend a little more money. Recently bought this installed it and thought all was great. Went up easy and set up took minutes. However with a dual band router (which most are) this will connect for 5 minutes and loose connection. It will be on and off all day long and sensi support wants you to customize your router settings to accommodate for this. Logging into your router and lobotomizing it seems crazy so a thermostat will work. My advice is to save an extra $100 and buy a nest. Goes up and connects just as easy and doesn't lose connection. Take my word for it. October 4, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Easy to install, the app works great no issues so far. October 25, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Love this Thermostat, Pleasantly Surprised After some initial concerns about privacy / security that I had about the thermostat on the home WiFi - which were fully addressed by the Home Depot / Sensi team - I got the thermostat installed in under 30 minutes...a personal record for thermostat installation for me. ;) The installation is made so simple with the Sensi app walking you through the process step by step, telling you exactly what to do and including helpful things like wire labels for when you are disconnecting your old thermostat / getting ready to install the Sensi. Now that it's fully installed, I love it - love the programmable aspect, of course, but really love the ability to control via the app on my phone. Excited about the energy efficiency this will make easy for me - and glad to have a bit of smart technology in my home. April 30, 2016
