There is something about a brass plumb bob that makes it more ecstatically pleasing then a steal plumb bob. I am not sure why the steel plumb bobs don't have the same shape.
This plumb is a quality piece of workmanship. The threaded plug and tip thread smoothly. The tip comes to a fine point, making it easy to see and mark the center point. The tip even comes with a protective cap.
This is one of those deceptively simple tool that looks, as well as functions good. It should last you a long time. It is great for all normal uses of a plumb bob.

Beautifully machined brass that simply "works". It's a good, solid, heavy plumb bob of excellent quality. The 16 oz size makes the string taut enough that you can mark it without a lot of deviation. It works beautifully, and the shape of the bob makes it settle down very quickly. The size also makes it easy to see when it stops swaying while comparing with a mark on the floor. Yup, I recommend this one..;~)

Often difficult to find well made tools these days. I am pleased with the lathe turned solid brass of this big one pound plumb bob. The sharp point is a hardened steel tip that's threaded on. The string end is a threaded brass cap which you slide a braided nylon contractors line through and secure it with a double knot. String not included. A fun old fashioned tool for marking a vertical line from a roof or porch for which I have a job to do.

To me, the very best way to string lines for tasks like framing, fencing & foundation work. A must have tool for anyone planning a small to large construction project.
