The 16" scale length may make this too long to fit in some tighter areas. When working on moulding and casing, a 6" or 12" square may be more versitile.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best combination square I have purchased I bought several combination squares over the past few months but most of them did not hold a 90 degree angle after I made adjustments. This is the only square that has held a 90 degree angle following several adjustments. October 18, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good Square I like the longer adjustable rule. Much better than most others. September 6, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Solid Combination Square I have become fond of Empire's products. This square is very solid when measuring/marking further out on the rule. May 3, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Well made, Good Accuracy for the price This is good value for the price. It is NOT comparable to my vintage Starret, and if you are very serious about accuracy, that's what you should get...and keep it locked up except when you need to check machines for accuracy. Use one of these for everyday stuff. For work-a-day use in situations where it will get dropped or banged around on a jobsite or in a production shop situation, this will do the job nicely. I bought the 16" size, and also 10 of the 12" size for my students to use. They stand up well to the use the kids give them and are still pretty accurate after 9 months of student use. They have been dropped but the mechanism has stayed square. The only tune up required is a quick pass to clean up places where the dents interfere with laying the fence along the edge of a work piece. I like the 16" ruler, but in general I keep a 12" in my apron pocket and leave the 16" on the bench. May 14, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Did you know 16 is bigger than 12 I have to say, I'm used to using a 12" square and it's nice to have a little bit extra room to play with. Build quality is good and I have no doubt this will last a long time. If I was going to make one suggestion it would be for the edges of the blade to be a bit more finished. A nice straight edge is great but it borders on sharp. This would still make a great addition to any tool bag. August 12, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice tool.. A very essential tool , and this one particularly is well constructed and easy to use May 3, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Time for a new one The combination square from my Great Uncle was getting very hard to read due to rust. This new square works just as good as the old one, but now I can see the smallest lines. July 7, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by great quality this combo square is accurate right out of the box. March 17, 2016
