Answer:
The 16" scale length may make this too long to fit in some tighter areas. When working on moulding and casing, a 6" or 12" square may be more versitile.

True Blue 16 in. Combination Square is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 37.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Real bad Out of the box the square was not sqare. It was about 1/16" off at the end. Also it is not straight, the edge has a visible curve. I returned it and git another one. It had the same problems. I bought a Craftsman from Sears and that is perfect. My conclusion: empire brand is a total trash, i still cannot comprehend how one can make such a bad tool.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best combination square I have purchased I bought several combination squares over the past few months but most of them did not hold a 90 degree angle after I made adjustments. This is the only square that has held a 90 degree angle following several adjustments.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not bad, but not great. This square is about what you'd expect at its price-point. The machining isn't all that smooth and you can still see tool marks on the square's faces. The straight edge binds somewhat when you slide it if the knob isn't completely loosened. For a square, it's not very square. Testing lines drawn back to back from the same reference edge shows a little over 1/16" deviation from the bottom of the lines to the top meaning the square is about 1/32" out of square. I suppose at it's price and given that it's not being sold as a precision square 1/32" isn't much to quibble about. For general carpentry work or framing and such it's perfectly acceptable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 16 in. Combination Square Well made product. Just what I have been looking for. There are times when you need a little extra then a 12 in. and this product fills the bill. When I'm working building something I don't need an expensive Combination Square this does me really well. I would reccomend this to anyone that has a shop. Is useful in metal work as well as wood.
