Customer Questions & Answers

How much does this level weigh?

No weight listed. And does it come in a box on the store shelf or by itself? Thanks.
Asked by: NLC1
I just weighed it with a digital hand-held hang scale. It was about 6.8 lbs. It's sturdy, but pretty heavy if you just want to use it mostly as a straight-edge for marking and cutting things.

True Blue 96 in. e2G Professional Box Level is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 14.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Much improved 2nd generation!!! I have the 1st generation of this level in both 24" & 72" & Empire has made some great improvements with the 2nd generation. 1. End caps are now a nice rubber instead of hard plastic & are also removable (I would assume replaceable also) 2. Hand grips are a nice grippy rubber, not cheap plastic 3. Edge of the level is not as drastically beveled as the previous version The level itself is very sturdy & looks nice. It is advertised as incredibly accurate, more so than I would ever be able to notice. The blue vials are a little more difficult to see than the normal yellow, but maybe that's just me. If you decide to buy an Empire True Blue® level, do yourself a favor & make sure it is the 2nd generation which will have all black end caps & hand grips, and also have "e2G" somewhere on it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from not a true 8 foot level First of all, this is not a true 8ft level. It is a 7'-8" or or 92" level. The rubber end caps are not the exact size as the aluminum frame. I needed an 8 footer to set the posts and beams of a large deck. Home Depot had 5 of these in stock. 3 were gen 1, and 2 were gen 2. All of the rubber end caps had shrunk anywhere from 1/32 to 3/32 and it would be impossible to get a true level reading if one end was on the aluminum, and the other end was on the rubber end cap. I bought the best one I could find and had to add 4 wraps of electrical tape to one end cap, and 6 wraps to the other end to get the end caps flush with the aluminum body in order for it to read "true level". Maybe the end caps are flush when they leave the factory, but shrinkage takes it's toll over time. I recommend all other pros look for another brand, but if you still decide to get this one, pick up a few rolls of electrical tape also.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid, simple, accurate If you need to span nearly eight feet for leveling, this unit will do the job for you. No lasers or tones, just an accurate bubble level. Aluminum body should resist warp better than a wood body. Compliant endcaps at each end prevent the level from being damaged -- or damaging something else. Can't vouch for the claimed accuracy of the bubble units, but seems reasonable. A top read window for the center vial makes it easier to read the unit without stooping.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Its 8 feet of perfection Empire, you can't go wrong with any of their products. These things are bullet proof. They always work and they can't be beat for best bang for your buck. Even at 96 inches I still have many uses for this thing even though I didn't think it was possible. This is my 6th empire level and I love every one of them. You can't be disappointed when you buy Empire.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great professional level Empire makes great measuring products and this level is no different. I use this level to measure longer applications such as flooring, joists, and steel structure. I couldn't be happier. Not only accurate, but built solidly in case it gets dropped or stepped on. All in all a great professional tool.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great, heavy duty level I love this level! I own the same Empire box level in the 4' version, so I knew what this 8' level should be. It's super heavy duty resulting in a heavier level, but a worthwhile compromise. I'm hard on my tools, but I expect this box level to be around for quite some time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Tool others will Envy I don't fall in love with tools easily, but this one looks so good I can't help myself. The solid feel, the milled edges, the .0005 accuracy, an not to mention the length. Size does matter. I have never had a straight edge so long. I build a lot of wood frames, and this has so many uses that to consider it just a level would be an insult. With a couple clamps, I have a fence, a marking tool, a guide for laying out a straight floor, and the ideas for new uses in future projects just leap into my imagination. The rubber end caps round out the design, and the main level can be seen from most angles. The only thing I would have loved to see added is a measurement scale on the side. Have you ever gotten up on a ladder while carrying a level? While framing a wall by myself, it was a chore. Now, I can just lean this against the side, and it's tall enough to grab from at the top of the ladder. And it's long enough to go from the floor to a tall enough height that I don't need to hold the level's weight. It gives me a great length to see the amount of twist and bending my 2x4's really have, and I can't say how much it has helped improve my one man projects.
