It doesn't really matter what grade of sand you use in the legs, just make sure that it is completely dry--NO moisture in it--or you will have a multi-hour chore trying to get it into the legs! You'll want to use a funnel of some sort to get it in.
The bench is lightweight but sturdy, and doesn't feel flimsy or wobbly at all for someone weighing 190-200 lbs. or less, but you'll want to make sure that Read More

The top of the bench is a rough textured plastic. You probably could tile it.

Answer:
I would not recommend this. The plastic resin it is made out of will not hold the adhesive and the bench will become top heavy. Thank you for your question.

We used a small bag of sand and just filled the legs halfway. The hole is small making it difficult to get the sand in. We had to drill to make the holes bigger.

I would say one bag should be plenty, but if you feel it is sturdier with more sand, by all means add more.

Rated 4.1 out of 5 by 68 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Looks very nice in my garden Came very well packed. Easy to set up right out of the box. I took advice from other reviewers and put sand in the legs to weigh it down. Also, I glued the legs to the base as I did not want it to come apart and it seemed to come apart too easy. It looks very nice in my garden and I am pleased with the quality. October 6, 2016
